Default Station Casino Coupons in ACG

We still have not heard back from our contact at Station Casinos. Since there are multiple properties with multiple managers involved, it could take a lot more time and we have no idea when we will get a response about the current situation We are, however, continuing our efforts to get a response.

At this point it is simply best to advise everyone that Red Rock, Boulder Station and Fiesta Henderson are no longer accepting the 2-for-1 buffet coupons in the current 2007 Guide, as well as in the 2008 edition of the Guide which will be on sale November 1.

We have revised the page on our web site which lists coupon changes ( http://www.americancasinoguide.com/changes.shtml ) to reflect the above change in policy by the concerned casinos. If the situation should change in the future, we will update that page with the new information.

While we have never really had a problem with casinos accepting coupons, the reality of the situation is that a casino can always stop taking a coupon at any time they decide it is in their interest to do so. As noted at the bottom of page two in the American Casino Guide, we will speak to a casino to inquire about the situation, but ultimately it is a business decision on the casino's part and we have no control over the situation.

If anyone is concerned that any other casinos might stop participating in the future, our only suggestion is that you not buy the book.

Sincerely,

Steve Bourie

Steve, thanks for the update.

I particularly like the last part. Maybe that'll satisfy some of the vipers out there.

Hi Steve-

The rumor floating around is that the Red Rock and Boulder are unhappy with the number of coupons being redeemed, since there's no limit to the number of coupons that can be obtained (by purchasing multiple copies of your book).

Assuming that is in fact the case, when you do get a hold of your contact could you suggest (obviously way too late for the 2008 book, but perhaps for future years) that they offer the coupon, but with the restriction of 'limit one coupon per location per year, Boarding Pass card required to redeem coupon.' That would prevent the 'abuse' that they're seeing (it should be easy for them to regulate that with their slot club system -- other casinos do the exact same thing with their 2-for-1 coupons), and still allow them to gain new visitors to their casino via the coupons (the entire reason they offer them), and gain value for the people who purchase your book.

Thank you for your consideration, and for keeping us in the loop as to what's going on.

As far as I know, there was a problem with counterfeit coupons and that is why the program was stopped at the three casinos.

I did make the suggestion you mentioned to our contact at Station Casinos a few weeks ago and I will also be suggesting that same idea to other participating casinos.

For the 2009 book we will be making some changes to the book to make counterfeiting much more difficult.

I will also be having a meeting with Station casinos at their offices early next year to discuss any other ways that we can make the program better for them.

I simply cannot agree with limiting buffet coupons to 1 a year. For example, if I visit Las Vegas 3 times a year and stay at the Orleans a few nights each trip, and I buy 3 ACGs, I would want to use a Orleans buffet coupon once a trip.

The Station Casinos having more locations notwithstanding, I don't necessarily want to drive to Red Rock or Boulder to use their coupon, when I would prefer to go to Texas or Green Valley Ranch. And I have never used a coupon at either of those 2 places without playing several times more than the value of 1 buffet in their machines. And I don't think many other people just walk in, eat and leave without gambling a bit either.
