Thanks for this site. We're going to Vegas Apr. 20 to Apr. 25. Does anyone know if Binions still have the 4 FPDW macines? It doesn't look like it from the website, but I can always hope it was a mistake. How does NSUD compare with FPDW? Is there a significant difference?

I wanted to share something we found when booking our room, and hope it's not against the rules for posting, but Hotwire advertises a 4 star hotel downtown for only $52. When we booked it we were thrilled to see that it was Golden Nugget! (Hotwire doesn't tell you the name of the hotel until you book and pay.) This is often twice that price and it will be the first time we've stayed there. Our first gamble really paid off this time. Hope someone else can benefit from this.

    Bobbie,

There is a significant strategy difference. Playing NSUD (99.73%) using FPDW (100.76%) strategy your return would be 98.78%.

I don’t know of any FPDW downtown except the Western and I would never send anyone there. El Cortez and Vegas club have Double Deuces Wild (100.92%). Playing DDW using FPDW strategy the return is 100.62%.

Other than splitting 2 pairs up, there's not much more 'difference'.
And who's to say NOT going for a FULL BOAT is right or not ? A Boat in DW is 'minimal' payback.

Thank you all for your helpful info about video poker. I'll try Vegas Club and El Cortez for the Double Deuces.

I might even try the Western I like the FPDW so much. I'm familiar with that hotel and know what you mean though.

Early in our Vegas visiting years I booked a room there using Fodor's Guide and when the cab driver heard where we wanted to go he told us we wouldn't be safe there at night, especially outside.

He took us to the Gold Spike and went in with us to help us book a room. This wasn't much better, but at least we felt safer. Now we're older and smarter I hope.

Would it be dangerous to go to the Western during the day or is it just dirty and disgusting? The lure of a good machine is calling.

    Bobbie,

If you feel that strong about FPDW consider Sam’s Town. They have 10 FPDW and there is a free shuttle from the Fremont to ST several times a day.

Thanks, 5 Card. That's a great idea. Where does the shuttle pick up? Would there be a website listing their schedule? What a great option when we don't have a car. I tho't the city bus was the only inexpensive choice and that can be a real hassle.
