Suggestions for a Biloxi rookie

Going to Biloxi next week and staying at IP. Have never been before so looking for suggestions, opinions and/or advice. Where is your favorite buffets? Nice restaurants outside of casinos? Which casinos do you like best or have had any luck at? We're not big money gamblers, low denomination slots, video poker and black jack make us happy. Any other sightseeing suggestions?

Here are my suggestions for low limit players but a good time. The IP is pretty good about comping buffets and is a nice place to stay. From there you can catch the Casino Hopper (shuttle) to get to the other casinos that are east of I110. It's cheap, about a dollar to ride and seniors pay even less. The lowest stakes games are at The Palace $3 BJ , $3 craps and $0.50 roulette. From the IP you can get to the aformentioned Palace, Boomtown, Beau Rivage,Grand ,Hard Rock and the Isle(of Capri) all by shuttle. Farther west are Treasure Bay, Island View, Hollywood & Silver Slipper Casinos but would require additional public transportation or a car rental. You can have a lot of fun just using the "Hopper", especially if your trip is only for a few days.

Don't expect comps at Beau Rivage or the Grand if you are a low limit player. All of these casinos have pretty decent buffets (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and taste even better when comped!

Be sure to join and use each casin's players club. If you want to return at a later date you will get lots of offers in the mail for free money, rooms and food.There are a few coupons in the ACG for Biloxi. Good luck and have lots of fun.

You've helped a lot. We're driving over from SC so we can wander around all we need or want to. I keep reading about all the comps people get so I'll be sure to get and use my cards. And I'll also be sure to use my ACG coups too.
Have been to Vegas numerous times and hope that Biloxi will hold me over until next trip in April. Like the idea of not having to travel so far.

Punter, is the casino shuttle now stopping at IP ? I've been there 5 times, the last being 2 years ago and it never did before.

I was there in December on a fly/hotel deal that IP offered. The shuttle ran by the IP on its way to
Boomtown and then again past the IP on its return trip. So you have two opportunities to board from the IP. As I recall the shuttle runs every 20 minutes. You can go by shuttle to IP, Boomtown, Palace, Beau Rivage, Hard Rock & Isle.

I'm back,
We had a good time in Biloxi. The IP was a very nice hotel and was good to me for a little $$. Was very excited about hitting for $189 and $149 on penny machines. And as I always try to do, I put those nice little white slips in the safe until check out time. Makes me feel better if I lose overall to have those white slips when I leave. Now I have my stash for Vegas in April.
Anyway, we went to most of the casinos. We walked to Boomtown from IP. I believe just about everywhere we went we got some free money when we got our players cards. Took the Boomtown shuttle down to Beau. We used our ACG coupons for the buffets at Isle and the Island View. Walked from the Isle to Palace, thanks for the advise about the BJ. Husband had a good time at the BJ table. From there we walked to the Grand and then down to the Hard Rock, the day after the big 14 million win on WOF machine. From there we went over to the Boomtown welcome center and used the intercom to have the shuttle sent over because by this time the center was closed. Few minutes later the shuttle picked us up and instead of making us go back to Boomtown, which is the policy, the nice driver dropped us at IP.
Also went into Gulfport to see the Hurricane Katrina "museum". Very nice display of photos and a DVD playing of news reports and before/after pictures of the area. Not knowing what the area looked like before Katrina I thought that Biloxi was very nice for the most part.
Overall a real nice trip. Was a nice holdover until April. People are very friendly & buffets were better than expected.

Glad you had a good trip and winning $$ always enhances a trip. I recently returned from LV and found a great place to stay. The Desert Rose (unsolicited endorsement) gives you a full apartment for the price of a room at a strip hotel. I found this on Expedia as part of a flight/hote/car package. If you don't have a favorite place to stay you may want to look into this.
