  • Unfair Patronage

Hi I was enjoying the dining and entertainment aspects of Sugarhouse casino and once I played I became discriminated against and I do not know if I can sue but I am inquiring. Can you advise me? I have never been treated so unfairly by anyone or anywhere. I am actually feeling sick over this. I played $4k at sugarhouse casino July 2016 along with their $5.00 free play book, and I'm told I WILL NOT receive a bonus book free play like others I know who have played even less then me! The director told me I would be receiving a bonus book in September for my July play. But, I inquired recently and was told I WOULD NOT get offers in September for my July patronage! Now they said I did not play the $5.00 book to their standards and it wiped out my 4k! I lost the 4k after and during the little book so they can not say I did not play with my money and just their free play! This is unfair, discrimination, isnt it? I have a gentleman's BOOKS who played close to $3k and for 3 months received generous books! He played the free play only. I play 4k of my own money and no bonus book! The director said he'd handle this and now he will not. I have a complaint in with Gaming Board. $5.00 and $10.00 free play can not diminish 4k play of my money and take away my bonus book. This is Not equality among patrons, It is highly unfair. Can they do this to people? Can I sue them, discrimination, small claims court etc Thank you in advance and please some one reply.

    Re: Unfair Patronage

As far as I know, all casinos are free to increase, or decrease, the free play and comp benefits that they give to their players at any time that they want.

They all have their own formulas on how theses benefits are doled out and they can change it at their discretion for any reason they desire.

Usually, all of these formulas are secret and they won't release that information to the general public.

It sounds like there was something about your play that they didn't like and that is why they are not giving you any benefits.

Unless you have something in writing stating that you were going to get a certain benefit for putting in a certain amount of play, then I think you are stuck and you will have to live with the casino's decision. Even if you had that in writing, however, I believe that casinos always reserve the right to modify, or cancel, any benefits at their discretion.

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I do feel that is what is happening, but isn't that discrimination? Yes I do have in an e-mail from the director he sees my high play and will stay on top of my September offers and now did not. They sent some one I know 2 books and he just played the free play. I played 4k of my own money. This just seems so unfair, discrimination and illegal. Its a sad thing when an establishment treats loyal patrons this way. Thank you again and I do hope others reply, I have been reading on how so many people are hurt from there in so many ways. Again, so sad and unethical.

I had one casino that I played at where I had a loss and two months later they sent me an offer for some free play.

When I went to use the free play the machine wouldn't give it to me.

I then went to the Players Club to ask about it and they said they took it away from me. They said they wanted to review my play, meaning I should play some more and go back and ask if I could get the free play. At that point I didn't trust them to treat me fairly so I walked out and never played there again. You may want to do the same.

How awful and highly unethical. I am sorry that happen to you as well. Thank you for sharing. Yes, I do agree on not going back there. The lack of equality among their patrons is not only noted but disgraceful. There is no price, win or lose of money on our self respect. However that is also why I am seeking the advise of legal representation and contacted the Gaming Control Board.

In addition, they all told me different information that is why I went to the gaming control board and am consulting a lawyer. The director said he would handle it then retracted, one manager said I would be happy with my September bonus book, and another manager actually said to me "Grease the wheels of the director and you will get your deserved free play" I have all their names but, how awful to say that. He said I am being treated unfairly and that's why even if he was not an employee he would keep playing in AC. I do not want anyone's job in jeopardy so I am not listing names, but I do not want to be discarded and or "Grease anyone's wheels" I am not looking for anything I do not feel I deserve. I only am asking to be treated fairly.

This is very unethical. Nobody should be treated that way. I suggest you consult and get yourself a lawyer because this has a company and money issue.. I'm sorry that you encountered this kind of treatment. You should never go back in there.
