  • Sever Based and Server Supported slots

I have been reading about Server Based and Server Supported slots being used in casinos. I have read that the slots in these establishments can have the payback percentages changed by casino technicians at any time as long as the machine has been idle for as little as 4 minutes. After the change all the casino has to do is file paperwork with the gaming commission that the payback percentage has been changed. My question is does this change the role of the RNG from being random and can the casino change all the machines at one time to payback less or more? Any input on how these systems work would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that central server gaming machines would still be using a random number generator (RNG). However, the RNG results would be determined within the central server rather than within the individual machine itself. Other than that, the machines would work the same.
