Default Ballys Atlantic City: Never again

We will never again stay at Ballys in AC. They closed our favorite restaurant (barbeque). They took away the omelette maker at the 15 dollar breakfast buffet and generally messed up the food service. The lowlight of our last (and final) visit was sending a steak back at the buffet for being overcooked and watching the partially eaten one end up back on the grill.

We were put in the Claridge and the room was barely up to Day's Inn standards. I noticed that all blackjack tables on the main floor have rules that are detrimental to the player. I played for 90 minutes at a 25 dollar table with bets ranging from 25 to 50 dollars and received all of 3 dollars in comps. There is no reason whatsoever to stay or play there when the Borgata is just a ten minute drive away. Their food and service and table games are far superior and they still comp you a decent amount if you give them enough play during the day.

We had similar problems in September. We reserved the highest level of room available at Harrah's website but when we arrived we were stuck in the Claridge as you were. When I complained the pulled they old "room choices are not guaranteed." I play video poker and I drink Coors Light. The beer was served in thimble sized plastic cups. I insisted on having my beer in a bottle and the server complied. However the next night she could not do it as management had met with the servers and told them no bottle beer. I could get a bottle of beer next door at Caesars so i know it was not illegal to serve bottle beer in Atlantic City. I think Bally's management is trying to save money by going "on the cheap." Boy is that a mistake. My wife said "no more Ballys."

I play there and eat in the Diamond Club, which is the nicest of Harrah's properties in AC. I haven't stayed there in a while. The Virginia City Buffet is OK.
Last time, several years ago, I got a room in the Dennis Tower. Got upstairs, and it was dirty and not made up. I called and they got me a new room, but I was grossed out.
I haven't been to the new coffee shop, but the service in Animations was awful.

I will say that the new coffee shop had good service and real good food. We ate there three times and we were satsified. The good coffee shop did not override the rest of the problems because the coffee shop is supposed to have good service and good food.
