  • Greektown Casino: Opa! - not really

The expanded GreekTown Casino in Detroit has several major problems that seriously need to be addressed: the slot floor and tables area are too crowded and claustrophobic. GreekTown would be much more pleasant if they re-arranged the gaming floor to best utilize their space: break up the rows of slots and add more room around your tables!

I have not played tables here as they always have been crowded, but tables are too close and block high traffic areas on the gaming floor. Low ceilings on the second floor make for poor air circulation and noxious second-hand smoke. On a plus side is the secluded room/area for Video poker and roomy High-Limits area.

Another plus is the vast and varied selection of games: new releases, old favorites, and variety of denominations makes it more likely for everyone to find something they like to play.

Converting your Players' points and Free Play offers at each slot machine is a big convenience, as is the ability to use your food comps at numerous eateries in the casino property and at neighboring locations immediately surrounding the casino.

Need to have more or larger Player's Club service counters! Manuvering the new parking garage often is cumbersome and the structure doesn't seem big enough to handle the large crowds going to this newly expanded facility. The walk from the garage to the casino property is still long, but at least it's protected from the elements. Haven't stayed in the new hotel nor eaten at the new buffet yet, but have heard good comments about both.
