The Fremont is a small comfortable hotel with friendly staff, good restaurants and decent games. The buffet is one of the better buffets downtown and reasonably priced, especially breakfast with made-to-order omelettes, fresh fruit and excellent drink service. The Second Street Grill is an outstanding restaurant and one of the best kept secrets of downtown. There is also a Tony Roma's chain restaurant that serves decent ribs. The beds were comfortable and the rooms pleasing in decor. The rooms are small (the hotel was built in the 1950's), but at least for a solo traveler more than sufficient. Some rooms are close to the sound and light show on Fremont street, so I recommend asking for a quiet room. An advantage of being a small hotel is that all is very close by. An elevator opens in the casino and goes up to the rooms, so there is not a long walk to go back and forth to the room. We have also found the staff very friendly. One night the blacjack tables were full, and we had 4 wanting a $10 min. table, and the staff opened a table up for us. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a comfortable, pleasant place to stay and gamble, and are not bothered by the lack of a large room and bath, and lack of glitz.
