  • Parx Casino and Racetrack: Not worth the trip. You can't win!

Parx Casino is located off Street Road in Bensalem (NE Phila). Be warned that the area is congested with cars and if you should hit rush hour traffic, you are screwed. To make matters worse, the drivers in the area act like maniacs. There is no parking garage. All the parking is outside and you must walk pretty far to get inside. Not a bad hike on a nice day, but miserable in bad weather. Inside, the newly-built slot facility looks inviting with the attractive slots, flashing lights and chandeliers. But that's where the fun stops. On most of our trips, the place has been very crowded (even on weekdays) and it is sometimes difficult to find a machine you are willing to play. The crowd, being located in Phila., is a bit rough. I would recommend that you set the alarm on your car, watch your belongings very closely and be alert at all times. The games themselves are the biggest disappointment. For those of us accustomed to playing, you realize you will lose sometimes, break even other times, but will also win sometimes. But in this place, your only option is to lose and lose it fast. The machines are so noticeably tight. You can spend hundreds of dollars and never once get a decent payout. This takes all the fun out of the games. To prove this, just take a casual walk across the entire floor. I can almost guarantee that you will not see one jackpot payout. I can't understand how they are able to get away with robbing the patrons and it also amazes me that people keep going back to that place after being swindled so badly. I really wasn't bothered by any smoke as some of the reviewers complained. Once in a while you would catch a wave of smoke but the place seems ventilated enough to not be a problem. Those that complain about breathing the smoke are probably the same idiots that go out and jump in their 3,000 pounds of steel and drive like they are on a suicide mission. The restaurants don't make up for the losses at the machines. There are only 2 places to eat. A greasy food court and an upscale steak house. We have eaten in both. The food court offers basics like soda, hot dogs and other sandwiches for a reasonable price and the lines are usually long and move slowly. The steak house is their expensive eatery. They seem to take care of you well and are very accommodating. We got off to a bad start when the rolls and butter were brought to us. The butter was bad. It tasted like it had sat out for a few days at room temperature. I loved their salad and appetizers. Their main course was decent, but it was nothing to brag about. I get the feeling this place is hit or miss so I don't think we'll be returning. All in all, we left with a very empty feeling and felt like suckers who were taken for a ride and ripped off. Going to Parx Casino makes you feel like a loser.
