  • The Meadows: Good Meadows Amenities

I'm surprised at some of the comments regarding the Meadows. Now that the table games are open the casino is a true "Atlantic City" experience. Okay, no sports betting like Nevada but everything else. Good variety of slots, table games. You can go downstairs and watch live racing or simulcast. There is an excellent restaurant (Steakhouse) upstairs overlooking the track. Good fast food available. A nice casual restaurant, too. And even a bowling alley if you want to get away from the tables for a while. I have participated in some of the promotions--they are giving away good prizes every week. The comments regarding whether the slots are "loose" or not are based on individual experience. In fact, look at the overall payout percentages--the Meadows is at about 91%--just behind the Rivers but at a respectable level (state law says a casino has to pay back only 80%). If you want to spend the extra time to drive to West Virginia you should get some perks--the WVA casinos are going to have to have promotions, etc... to convince people to keep driving the extra distance. Since I like wagering on the Greyhounds better than Harness horses I will continue to go occasionally. However, for an overall experience I think the Meadows offers a good variety of gaming options and does a good job of providing them!
