  • Lucky Dog Casino: Friday night seafod on the Hood Canal

Friday night Seafood Buffet at the Lucky Dog.August in the Northwest, Salmon are running and hundreds are caught every day by anglers and gill nets, it’s one of the best Dungeness crab seasons in years and almost everyone is catching their limits; All that in the waters that adjoin the tribal land. A few miles up the Hood Canal are Dabob Bay, Hama-Hama, Trident Cove and a dozen other great oyster and clam areas; Check out the Hood Canal on line or in person if you are lucky! So with all this bountiful a $17.99 seafood buffet at the Lucky Dog should be great! Clue here is sea food buffet… they took our money but there wasn’t any food. Should have been called a No See Food buffet. The girl that took the money for the thrown-together “buffet” was surprised when we pointed out that all of the chafing dishes and serving platters were empty though it was apparent it was her job to tell the cooks. The cook brought out about one dish every 10 minutes. The manager walked around with his hands behind his back (ala Capt. Bligh) looking at his staff like he probably did in his day job at Burger King, and told us he only had two cooks. The Dungeness crab clusters were obviously frozen and poorly steamed to thaw, salmon patties from a box, about 1 in 12 steamed clams did not open and obviously were bad, they only refilled the salad once, and hushpuppies??? For Gods sake hushpuppies??? Where was the breaded catfish? No comps, no cares, no free drinks, and now no customers. The casino is a smokers dream, don’t even have to light up it is that thick. There are about a dozen machines in a non-smoking corner though. So my ranking? How many Yucks in Sucks?
