  • Revel Atlantic City

Revel, Atlantic City's latest casino, finally got the message that they have to have promotions to attract gamblers and increase their revenue. A friend and I showed our CZR diamond cards in the "Match Your Tier" promotion, and got $50 in free play and free rooms. We went on June 27 with another friend.
The property is way over the top, at least by Atlantic City standards. There are lots of sitting areas, with different decors, both on the casino level and the hotel lobby level. The rooms are lovely and all come with an ocean view. The quality of decor is similar to the Borgata, but standard rooms have 46-inch flat screen TVs. The phone and clock are run by tablets, which my friend had to show me how to use.
The swimming pool is on the 11th floor, hotel lobby level. Outside, it's a big circle to swim or walk around, or whatever. There are also decks to look out at the ocean. There's a hot tub nearby, as well as plenty of lounge chairs. But the cool part is a door where you can swim into the indoor section, which provides various beach balls for the kids' enjoyment. The indoor pool area also has a pool table, a putting green, and other games for the young ones. Once an hour, "rain" falls out of a corner of the indoor pool. Fluffy brown towels are provided, so you don't have to bring them from your room. The pool is for hotel guests only, and they do check for keys.
We walked down to Showboat for lunch and dinner in order to use the remainder of our Diamond renewal coupons, so we didn't sample any Revel eateries on that trip.
The casino can get loud, especially at night, with club music and half-naked women dancing on catwalks.
The only good video poker is $1 9/6 Jacks or Better, scattered in about a dozen machines around the casino. But Revel is running a couple of good summer free-play promotions that give you some more to work with as you play. All players card holders get free parking for the summer.
Most of the restaurants are very expensive, unless you build up a lot of comps to eat for free. But I did go back last weekend and try the taco lunch truck, and the nachos I got there were the best I've ever had, for $10. Local chef Luke Palladino, who also has an awesome restaurant in Harrah's, just opened a reasonably priced casual eatery, but I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
If you're in AC anyway, this place is definitely worth a visit, if for nothing else, just to gawk.
