  • California Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas to Get Major Makeover

Las Vegas— (12/3/15) Boyd Gaming Corporation today announced a multi-million-dollar redesign and renovation of the California Hotel and Casino, giving an entirely new look and feel to one of Downtown Las Vegas’s most popular gaming destinations.

“As Boyd Gaming’s 40th year comes to a close, we are proud to continue reinvesting in the place where our Company was born: Downtown Las Vegas,” said Bill Boyd, Executive Chairman of Boyd Gaming. “The luxurious new look and feel of the California Hotel and Casino will offer our longtime guests an elevated new experience at the property they love. It will also provide first-time guests a new incentive to visit the Cal, and experience our legendary Spirit of Aloha.”

The update of the California’s public areas follows the January 2015 opening of the California Noodle House, a distinctive, modern restaurant with an eclectic Asian menu. When complete in early 2016, almost every public area in the property, including the valet and porte cochère, guest registration and casino floor, will have been refreshed and re-energized, inspired by modern Hawaiian colonial design.

Distinctive elements include bright, brilliant metallic finishes, luxe textures like alpine white granite, and a dark, rich wood finish to accent molding throughout the casino.

The public area project will be followed in 2016 by a complete redesign and upgrade of nearly 500 hotel rooms and suites, as well as additional food and beverage projects.

Boyd Gaming is the largest multi-property operator in Downtown Las Vegas. Along with the California, Boyd Gaming also owns Fremont Hotel and Casino and Main Street Station Casino Hotel Brewery. The Company’s commitment to reinvest in Downtown Las Vegas extends beyond the doors of the California; in July 2015, Boyd Gaming opened a popular new bar at the Fremont, The Filament.

“I’m grateful to Boyd Gaming for its continued reinvestment in Las Vegas Ward 5, and for its ongoing commitment to Downtown Las Vegas,” said Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow. “This represents another step toward supporting the continued vitality of our Downtown community.”

“As a long-time resident of the City, it’s wonderful to see a native Las Vegas company like Boyd Gaming continue to reinvest in our community,” said Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin.

The renovations at the California Hotel and Casino are part of an ongoing effort to enhance Boyd Gaming properties across the country. For more information on this and other projects, visit BoydGaming.com/Amenities.
