  • Should I be asking for more comps?

    Hello all,
New here and looking for some advice...

I have been a member of Total Rewards for about 7 years now. Over the years, my gambling desire/budget has increased, and I have been Diamond level for the past 2.5 years or so. I am starting to think that I may be missing out on comps and was hoping to get some educated opinions from the forum...

I do a 4-5 day trip to Vegas probably at least twice a year. I travel for work, so if I'm nearby a TR location I try to hit it for a few hours one evening if I'm in town. I don't know exactly what my total coin-in for the years are, but my TR score has hovered near 20k-22k or so for the years I've been Diamond, and probably 60-70% of that is from actual play and not bonuses. I can get 5 nights comped in an upgraded room at any LV hotel except Nobu (even Cromwell with the exception of a Fri/Sat night depending on when I search the calendar) and seemingly any room I want in the rest of the country. I think I should be getting more/better offers from them, but maybe I just haven't gotten the e-mails yet. I have a reservation booked in June and hoping to get a nice free play/dining offer that I can add on to the room before I go.

My question isn't really about the offers though, it's more about if I should be getting more comps than I am when I am on property. You hear stories of casinos taking room charges off folios upon checkout based on how much you spend in the casino. Does this actually happen in practice? My typical bank roll on a 5 day trip to LV is probably about $5k, and that's not counting how much of the winnings I put back into the machines depending on how much I want to press my luck. Should they be offering, or should I be asking, for some portion of meals charged to the room to be comped? I'm not talking about using my Diamond dinner or my earned TR points; I'm talking about them just pretending they didn't exist, and I can use my TR points for what I want to use them for.

Does this actually happen, and what is the best way to go about doing that?

Thanks for any input/advice you can give!

Caesars is really clamping down on hosts who want to give customers more than what they've actually earned in Reward Credits. Some of the smaller markets (Biloxi, Council Bluffs, Cherokee) will sometimes comp meals (or portions of meals) signed to the room, but it's rare in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Occasionally, a host in one of those markets will send a comp for dinner around your birthday, or just out of the blue to keep you as their customer. Otherwise, what you earn is what you get. Some people have been successful in depleting their RCs by using them for gift shop purchases or converting them to free play. Then they charge meals, spa treatments, etc. to their rooms and ask their host to pick it up. If the person is a really good player, this might work for a while, but, as I said in the beginning of this response, there is no guarantee because of corporate policies. Personally, I wouldn't want to be stuck with a bunch of junk and also have to pay for my meals and drinks. Personally, I prefer these "transparent" players clubs like Total Rewards and M life Rewards because you know what you're earning and how much you have in your "bank." If you have $1,000 in comps you know how much you can spend, just like with a real checking account at your local bank.
