Video Blackjack

I've been trying to determine the payback on the new multi-player video blackjack machines.

They say they are six deck games with reasonable rules about splitting, doubling, and surrender. There is no way I can find to tell when shuffling occurs - it may occur after every hand.

My best guess is that the return is just over 99.6% which would make it comparable to good video poker games but would not have the variability caused by royal flushes and other high paying hands.

Does anyone detect a problem with what I'm saying?

I believe that your calculations are correct.

Usually, the casino gets its biggest advantage on those games by paying even-money on blackjack.

If they pay 3-to-2 for a blackjack then it should be a decent game.

I checked a few out at locals casinos and none paid 3-2 for BJ.

If it only pays even money then it's a bad game.

It's rare to find a machine that pays 3-to-2 for blackjacks, but every once in a while you can get lucky.

About six or seven years ago there was such a machine on one of the old gambling boats here in South Florida. It was a qurater machine and I think the maximum bet was 10 quarters ($2.50).

I spent a lot of time on that machine and it was a profitable situation. I actually lost money on the game, but they gave cashback for your play and I ended up making more than $1,000.

They finally wised up and converted it to only pay even money on blackjacks.

It was fun while it lasted!

I have seen the new flat screens that have the animated dealers that talk and interact in only two casinos.

The machines in both of those casinos have pay scales and rules that I mentioned in the original post.

I appreciate the confirmation that my calculations are correct.

We have those big flat screen VBJ games with those rules on the East Coast in DE..
$5 min..
I've pretty much pushed on them.

I got spoiled spending 9 days in Vega$!! Can't wait to go back

This happened to me at the Gold Coast back in 2002 or 2003. I was on a video blackjack kick because the extremely low volatility was perfect for my Vegas bankroll, and I liked playing at the Gold Coast because of the drink service. I could play 50 cents a pull on VBJ and drink to my heart's content.

At the bar near the buffet, I found a VBJ machine with good rules that paid 3-2 on BJs. I played that machine for over 8 hours on the same $10 while watching sports and drinking numerous bloody marys. That was a goooood day

Of course, that machine is gone now.
