  • Hassles at Terribles Casino (ACG-matchplay coupon)

Over the last 2-weeks, and after try visiting different shift (to see if it's just not an isolated incident) Terribles Casino (@ Flamingo & Paradise) has been saying that one has to "tear out the Terribles $10-match play coupon from the ACG book in front of dealer for it to be a valid coupon".

I have also bought the ACG membership card with me & explain to them that all I need to show is this membership card & they still won't let me use it.

And their matchplay policy is "1-matchplay coupon" per day.

Please let them know that ACG coupons are not the same as the ones from the LVA.

We will contact them to remind them about the policy with the American Casino Guide coupon.

However, they are certainly within their rights to enforce a limit of "1-matchplay coupon per day."

If you are trying to use more than one coupon per day that would certainly qualify as "coupon abuse."

No, I'm NOT "trying" to use more than 1-coupon per day.

I'd tried it on a different shift because I thought it was just an "isolated incident" (it could just be a new pit floor supervisor or something new that I didn't know of), but I guess that they probably had mistaken it the same rule as an "LV-Advisor coupon book".

I'm only trying to use "1-coupon per day" (within their rules) without having any hassles of the "must tear coupon out of the ACG book" because ACG coupons don't have to be tore out in front of dealers for it to be valid for use.

This is a typical example of mis communication between management and floor staff.
The LVA you have to tear out. They're also worried about counterfeit coupons. Just take the book in and show it to them with your membership card.

I don't think it has anything to do with what you call "mis communication between management and floor staff."

I think the main purpose is to decrease the # of coupon use of all types.

          Why is that ??

As we already know that "Terribles Casinos" is NO longer owned by the original "Terribles" owners (they filed for bankruptcy a year or so ago), but is now owned by lenders (banks, etc).

And when casinos changed hands, they tend to "cut back" (or modify) offers.

I have local friends who also have the same "problems" with the "Terribles $10-matchplay" (ACG) coupon: "Must tear coupon out of book in front of dealer/supervisor (will NOT accept it if it's been already torn out of the book)."

They (my local friends) told me that they are no longer allowed to receive any offers from "Terribles" casino because they've "won too much" (drawings, video poker winnings, etc) from them.

And yes, ACG-membership card is shown & explained about the wording on the coupon regarding the "coupon is valid when ACG-membership card is shown".

And it's been close to 2-weeks now & still have not heard anything from ACG on this "Terribles matchplay" coupon hassle.
          -------

And I think that this problem will continue on with next year's 2010's ACG's "Terribles $10-matchplay" coupon too.

I had the same "issue" with a floorman/supervisor. I tried to explain to no avail, so used a fun book coupon instead.

I was still allowed to use two offers (coupons). This was in early October. On previous visits, I was also limited to two different coupon "offers", so "saved" my funbooks.

Anyway, I cut all my ACG coupons out and put them into alphabetical order. I did not have the remnants of my book with me.

I went back again a few days later and they did accept the "loose" ACG. Different floorman/supervisor. :::shrug:::

Terrible's is indeed worthy of its name. I went there for the first and last time last spring. The only people more surly than the dealers were the customers.

It appears that there is some coupon abuse going on from people. Casinos reserve the right to refuse coupons at any time. It mentions that in the book and on the website. Please people lets not ruin a good thing and abuse coupons.

I come back from my yearly vacation in Las Vegas. As before, I used several ACG matchplays together with my friends from Switzerland. No one had any trouble using them. We even played one at the blackjack table and another one at the craps table a few minutes later. Terrible’s showed no heat, no hassle, no nothing. We were not even urged to show the players club card.

Coupon Denial! Don't Get Your Panties Up In A Bunch!

Yes, it's happened to all of us avid users of the mighty coupon at one time or another, the dreaded DENIAL!

Lack of communication between management and floor staff, failure to brief the staff on the terms of acceptance, or change in management are the main culprits.

Once in a while you'll get a micro manager with a bug up his rear end. That's rare.

                    What you can do?

Be nice. Coupons, like a driver's license, are a privilege, not a right. And yes, the management does reserve the right to refuse a coupon, especially if it's your third match play that day at the same casino. At least wait for the shift change, and use a disguise!

Some casinos set a limit on how many coupons you may use in a specific time frame; one per person per year is not uncommon. They track their usage by your player’s card, and coupon abuse is a no no. Besides, it may cause issues for the publisher of the coupon book down the road, and we wouldn't want that.

Don't barge in like a freight train and demand they accept your coupon immediately, keep it low key. If there's no mid deck entry, lay back and wait. If the shooter is on a hot roll, be discreet. Place your coupon with your card and cash on the table like you would normally ask for checks for cash. If it won't fly, they'll let you know. You usually don't need to ask or distract the other players. That's what the management doesn't like.

Once in a blue moon, (that's good beer too) management may revoke a coupon. Oh well, there are at least a hundred others in the book, and too many casinos that actually want your business to fret over it. Just move on, and don't look back!

I use coupons every time I go to Las Vegas, but I personally don't go out of my way to venture to the middle of nowhere just to use them. I keep a list for quick reference, and use them as I go.

Free drinks, match plays, two for one everything and free stuff is always a good thing.
