  • Ellis Island casino not accepting ACG coupons

Was just at Ellis Island today (12-23-09) to use a $10-matchplay (2009 ACG coupon).

The pit supervisor said that management decided to not accept anymore 2009 (& even the new 2010 ACG coupons; pink-colored coupons) from the ACG books.

Don't know if this also includes the "4-free drinks" & "2-for-1 menu item" coupons too.

And don't know when they will ever return to accepting them again as in previous years.

I was at te ellis island bar-b-q about 2 weeks ago and had the acg 2for1 coupon lying on the table in front of the waiter when I placed my order and he looked right at it. When he brought the ribs to the table, he told me that they no longer accepted the coupon! I told him that he looked right at the coupon when I ordered and said nothing about no longer accepting the coupon and to take the ribs back to the kitchen and send out the manager. The waiter took the ribs and came back about 5 min. later stating that they would accept the coupon this time, but not in the future! He brought the ribs back, I ate them, they accepted the coupon telling me that this is the last time that they will accept the coupon. I will not go back to ellis island! Megaladon

Re: Ellis Island casino not accepting ACG coupons

The folks at Ellis Island have decided that they no longer want to honor any of their coupons.

They said they were having problems with coupon abuse and that's why they will no longer accept coupons from the American Casino Guide.

I gave them some suggestions that would have stopped the abuse, but they didn't seem interested in implementing those ideas.

I have posted a notice on the coupon changes about this new policy at Ellis Island. Sorry for the problem.

Re: Ellis Island casino not accepting ACG coupons

The folks at Ellis Island have come up with a compromise on the use of their coupons. In order to redeem any of their coupons, you must present a valid form of government identification and it must be from outside the state of Nevada.

They said that the problem they had with coupon abusers was mostly from Las Vegas locals and we hope that this compromise will help to stop the abuse.

The policy could change again in the future if they find that this is not working for them.

Also, anyone attempting to use a coupon multiple times could be asked to leave the property.

Is this once in a lifetime or once per year?

Well, at least they're going to TRY to hold up their end of the deal. It's such a shame when these people try and scam the propriters and the rest of us end up having to pay for it

I was really looking forward to using my coupons on my trip this month and was SUPER bummed about the EI loss. Glad they're back on track!

It would be limited to once per year.

If they come back in again next year I am sure that the offers would change at that time.

They are very nice people and they are trying to work with us on this problem.

Hopefully, this revised solution will work for all of us.

Ellis Island's rule on matchplay coupon use (in previous years) : "1-matchplay coupon per day".

Being an LV-locals, I used to visit them about almost everyday (once a day) to use only 1-matchplay coupon per day (per their rule), but now that they don't want business from an LV-locals, I won't be visiting that often.

And I don't just go there to just use a matchplay coupon & leave, I do visit their sportsbook & make bets (greater than $100 but less than $1000 bets) on sports (football & basketball games) if their lines look good. Their sportsbook employees know this, but I guess they don't want any business from an LV-locals (or others like me), so I won't be visiting them that often to make those sportsbets.

So good luck to Ellis Island (a local casino) that now only wants to cater to "non-LV locals".

                    On another note-
Will Ellis Island accept a coupon WITH the $6.99 off menu steak dinner special? I'm assuming not, but figured I'd ask since I'll be going there anyway.
                    Anyone tried this?

Re: Ellis Island casino not accepting ACG coupons

It is pretty ironic that a locals casino insist on out of state id.

I checked with the folks at Ellis Island and they confirmed that the "daily specials" are excluded.

I later noticed that the front of the coupon clearly states that they are excluded, but I forgot to look at the coupon first before checking with them.

That's totally fine, I was just wondering. I'm sure that I'll use the coupon there anyway!!
Thanks so much for looking into it!
