    Craps basic strategy.

Many of us never knew there was a basic strategy for craps. We’d belly up to the table, and start making bets without knowing what the odds were with respect to our chances of winning.

Most of us have heard that the casino’s advantage on the pass line is about 1.41%. But how does it work?

There are 36 possible combinations when the dice are rolled.

Six ways to make a 7

Two ways to make an 11

    6 divided by 36 = .16666

    +

    2 divided by 36 = .05555

    .16666 + .05555 = 17.16%

Comes to about 17%. So, if you were to roll 100 times, theoretically 17 of those rolls would be pass line winners on the come out roll.

    Re: Craps Basic Strategy

Most Downtown and some Strip Casinos offer $5 minimums these days, with at least 2X odds but more common are 3,4,and 5X, some 10X some 20X some up to 100X.

But you never know on any given day what the minimums will be set at. If the Casino is crowded on a weekend night, of course you'll see higher minimums, and on Sunday, some hold the line, others drop to $3.

The high end might have $25 minimum line bets or more, odds vary.

During slow periods I've seen a craps crew standing at a $10 table with no takers, why do they do that?

I've heard the Golden Nugget is known for raising the limit on a table full of players.

I've had pit bosses grandfather my minimums and drop the limits when a group of us came to a dead table. All I had to do was ask.

I'll be in town in December for 5 days and due to my OCD I'll more than likely hit most of the casinos more than once, I like to Move!
Hey it's Vegas and you only live once.

I'll be looking for low limits with high odds, 12 pays triple on the field and proper proposition payouts. Sure I break my own rules but it's my money, (and then it's the casinos). on those hard way bets.

I'd like to keep abreast of the trends at the various casinos as to what and when the minimums change, focusing on but not limited to the casinos that offer the highest odds.

I will stay Downtown, and hit the Strip for a few days as well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

      Re: Craps Basic Strategy

I'm heading out to Vegas in May to do some research for my website. We basically try to provide a breakdown of as much of the pertinent information for any craps offered at any casino. Limits, odds offered, number of tables, etc.

I find that the MOST important thing to look for when choosing between one casino and the next are the odds offered.
There is a significant difference between what is already a low house edge on a 3x4x5x table to that of a 10x or even a 100x table.

I've been getting a lot of feedback from people via twitter who are basically telling me that a LOT of the casinos in LV only offer 3x4x5x.

I'm new to this forum, but I look forward to sharing insight with you!

        Side note:

When I go in may, I have every intention of hopping casinos. Last time I was out there was 2004 i think, and I hopped casinos all over the place.

Back then I was playing some craps, and mostly poker, I would sit down at a poker table for an hour, get up a little bit, then run to the next table of suckers!
