  • Sugar House Casino: Sugar House - you can tell it's then only casino d

...table game minimums for blackjack on a weeknight are $25. For Pai Gow it's $40. Of the two craps tables running there was one for $10 and the other was $15. I guess that's to be expected when the closest competition is in Bensalem 15 miles away. But there were positives; cocktails are comped at the bar for video poker players, and there were plenty of quarter 8-6 JoB games at the bar. I appreciated that the bartender told me he could comp my drink if it was made with well liquor instead of what I'd ordered. And the staff at the player's club were very friendly, giving me a free T-shirt for sign-up.It's a relatively small casino, but the smoke wasn't bad. It's about a $9 cab ride from center city. It's not Vegas (what is?), but I'd probably go back if I was in downtown Philly, especially when they get a poker room. (The player's club employee said they're "working on it".)

I was recently at the Sugarhouse for the purpose of reviewing the offerings that they have for craps, as we are trying to profile craps at all casinos in the region on hittingpoints.com.

We found their table minimums to be significantly higher than surrounding casinos, now $15 and $25 at the 3 or 4 open tables that they had. Also, we were not at the table, but heard complaints that they raised the minimum for one of the tables from $15 to $25 in the middle of a roll. In fact, we were told that they raised the min while a point was on, and forced players to press their pass line bets(unconfirmed).

The facility itself looks nice, but it's just a box and you can see all 4 walls from any point in the casino. The facility in Chester, PA (Harrah's) is much nicer, and typically offers $10 and $15 craps tables, with the same, 5x odds.

One offer that is of note, if you have a premium level players club card from ANY atlantic city casino, they give you a premium card and $100 comp/slot dollars.

I was in the Sugarhouse for about 40 minutes the other night and did not bother to get the card yet, but that's what they advertise.
