  • Coupon Trading Kill the Goose That Lays The Golden Egg

I've touched on this subject before, and it's getting to the point we're going to see such things as match play coupons go the way of the Carrier Pigeon.

Why? Multiple coupon use by a few abusers. It's always a few bad apples that spoil the barrel.

When someone uses the same coupon in the same casino repeatedly, the Casinos retaliate by dropping out of the program. Unfortunately they don't see that the value exceeds the loss. Their mind set is simply that they don't like to lose. Some would rather cut off their nose to spite their face.

In one case a certain individual repeatedly used a $25 dollar match play coupon at Planet Hollywood, he did net an advantage over the casino of over $700, until they found out. Now, go try and find a match play coupon for P HO.

Now, some might say, "That's Great" but it causes problems for the publisher, as well as getting the patron banned for life, and possibly blacklisted as a cheater. A Cheater you say? Well, as with card counting there's no law against it, but if you're caught counting, you are asked to leave for good, and they get a facial recognition profile on you and share it with other casinos.

So, where do these people get these multiple coupons? Well in some cases the trade each other on Las Vegas Web forums. But one thing you'll notice is that the these sites that promote coupon trading don't have a coupon book. They are like bottom feeding parasites that try to increase they're "Hits" by promoting coupon trading, and there are allot of them out there.

A few prime individuals are seen repeatedly on many sites, trading for match play coupons in particular, and these are the very offenders that are going to ruin it for the rest of us that use the coupons as they are meant to be used, as a promotion to generate new and repeat business, one coupon per user within a specific time period.

Some of the larger casinos install software programs that track usage via the player's club card, but many of the smaller casinos don't have the resources or the inclination to do this, as it takes added man hours at the player's club desk, and creates long lines that irritate folks.

So, what can be done? Not much. Personally I don't trade, and I urge the web master of the other sites to discontinue this practice, which usually ends up in me getting my wrist slapped.

I've attempted to post directly to these persons, only to receive an explosive and vial retaliation. They all say the same thing, the casinos put them out there and bla bla bla.

If you're a coupon abuser, and we know who you are, Quit trading form this book pal, you're killing the Golden Goose.

I can see your point about the abuse potential for match play coupons. For the ACG free slot play, I have to visit the players club to provide a name and signature to ensure I could only use it once per year. If they they made match play users visit the players club to endorse the coupon (maybe with a stamp or something) before use, that would help.

BEN, I believe last year YOU YOURSELF had posted that YOU traded for tons of MP coupons and used them. which makes you one of the culprits.

If I'm wrong in this regard, post & let me know.

        Dead Wrong

when you point the finger at someone, you've got three pointing back at yourself.

I've seen traders post under different screen names, multiple times looking to trade for the same coupons.

If you'll notice the Las Vegas Advisor no longer has any match plays in their book.

Free play limits the casinos loss, and the user is more likely to continue to play. Also there are designated machines on which free play is allowed. Hmmmm?

I've seen teams of hit and run match play users. I witnessed this first hand. A group of men, about ten of them came in to the East Side Cannery and each played only the match play and they left, on to the next casino.

It doesn't matter what some merchant invents to increase business. Somebody, somewhere will figure a way to exploit it and eventually end it. Shame, shame.

Actually, thinking back it was more like 6 guys, and they played they're match plays on the Craps table at the East Side Cannery. This was about two years or so ago. I didn't see any in the ACG book this year for ESC.

Don't get me wrong, I like match play coupons. That's the reason Abuse ****es me off. When some joker gets a stack of them and uses them in the same casino repeatedly until casino management takes notice, the match plays go away so no one can use them.

Casinos aren't exactly charity organizations if you know what I mean.

I was doing some research on the history of the match play, and came across numerous posts by coupon traders. Very interesting.

It's ironic that the very person and web site that promoted the infamous "Coupon Run" no longer offers match plays. Anyone remember the travel channel special where Antony Curtis and his side kick Bethany go on this coupon run. He finds a dime on the ground and credits it towards his winning tally, Good for one 10 cent cup of coffee at the Westward Ho! That was back in 2001/2002 and those specials are still airing.

So, This is Frugal Vegas? A freakin dime?

You're going to see more like $50 dollars worth of chips for $40, and they'll be casino bucks that you cant cash in until you've played them, theoretically. And free play, for new sign ups only. The idea is the casino is trying to entice us to start gambling. Sure, they know how addictive it can be. But God forbid we should get over on them for a dime. That gets them upset.

Ironically the travel channel episode with Anthony Curtis on a coupon run is on right now... they really need to update these shows because I could see someone watching this who is not familiar with Vegas and wanting to go to the Westward Ho which has been closed for 6 years!
