    Re: ms casinos

We were down in Biloxi in January, 2008. The Hard Rock was pretty good for us. We have a small motor home and they let us park in the lowest level of the parking garage right next to the casino. Most casinos send us way out to the back of the remote parking lot. They were very friendly to us.

We went on Tuesday and got a coupon for a half-price buffet (senior). The ventilation was good and I wasn't bothered by smokers. It was crowded around lunch-time, but then it was nice. They comped us on the play that we had, and we got additional free-play and food comps that we used for dinner. Thought they were generous on comps.

I liked the Isle of Capri because they have a large non-smoking casino on the lower level. We had a coupon in one of the newspapers for a 2-for-1 buffet. They were also good about parking our rig.

The Palace also had good parking for us. They gave us $10 free play with the purchase of a lunch buffet ($10.00 + tax).

We stopped in at the Grand, but did not stay long. They had advertised free play for club members who had returned after 1 year, but said that they were no longer doing that. Only totally new members could get the free play promotion. Since it is in the old parking garage, it is very crowded, noisy, and has very poor venilation.

We drove to Gulfport to the Island View. They were very friendly. As a new member, we were given a chance to chose our free play award. I got $10 and my husband got $25. You chose from six covered amounts and I don't know what the maximum is.

Please see my entry on the discussion page about the Silver Slipper. That was one of our favorites for first time member comps. We got a free buffet, $25 free play, a T-shirt and deck of cards.

Enjoy your trip. I can't wait to go back, especially since we got close of a foot of snow today in Northern Illinois.

Great information--thanks a lot. We are going to Biloxi in late Feb on a charter bus tour and we are staying at the Palace, but visiting other cainos in the area. I had couple of questions. 1. Do you think it is reasonable to walk from the Beau Rivage to the Hard Rock? and 2. Do you think it is a walkable distance from the Isle to the Grand? We are healthy and walk on a daily basis, I was just wondering about the distances. Thanks again.

To answer your questions: 1. Distance-wise, it is not far from the Beau to the Hard Rock. I think there is a sidewalk. My husband walked over to the Beau while I was playing at the Hard Rock and back again.

        2. It is not far from the Isle to the Grand. We used to walk it all the time before Katrina. I'm not sure of where you can walk now due to construction and devastation. I think you can walk across the street and walk by St. Michael's Church to the sidewalk by the Grand. There is a short block in-between there that used to be a pawn shop and over-size parking for the Magic. (It's the lot where the casino was re-located by Katrina). Don't know if I would do it after dark. The old Casino Magic used to be just to the west of the Isle and it is now a construction zone and I don't think there is a sidewalk there now.

Before Katrina, we used to walk from the Isle or the lot next to the church to the Palace because there was no parking for our motor home at the Palace. Since Katrina, there is lots of room for us to park.

We also walk from the IP to Boomtown, but only in daylight. Shuttles run all the time between those two casinos. Hope this helps.
