Default PLAZA - What a deal!

Just read this before I was starting my trip report on VegasTripping...

For $149 (Sunday to Thursday) this is what you get:

A Two-Night Stay for Two, Sundays through Thursdays ($149) or Fridays and Saturdays ($289)
    Four Live Show Tickets

$300 in Slot Play (according to VT, this is good on ALL of their machines)

    In-Room 50-Minute Swedish Massage

<li class="last-child">Daily $25 Breakfast Credit at Island Sushi & Hawaiian Grill
Offer is also valid for Friday and Saturday, but for $289

Offer expires at the end of the year, but must be purchased in the next four days.

The word is that the free play is on promotional machines.
    Who is VT?

Vegas Tripping... He apparently called the Plaza directly and asked what the promotional play was good for. It was all machines, not the promotional type like Casino Royale.

Here is a report from a fellow who is there and asked that we spread this around:

We are here at the Plaza now, we checked in no problem.

First off they are substituting a $100 restaurant.com giftcard instead of the massage.

The $300 in "free play" comes as 3 $100 promo vouchers for the machines at Casino Royale. Yes they are giving promo vouchers that you can just walk in to Casino Royale and get yourself!

The tickets are for shows that you can just go and get yourself for free. Mac King, Gerry McCambridge and Nathan Burton. These are all coupons that you can just clip out of any Vegas magazine yourself.

We spoke with a lady named Michelle and one of the owners whos name is Chris Sagarees. The owner claimed that the vouchers are good for machines that you can win on, when I explained to him about the Casino Royales machines and how you can not really win or cash out on them he said he wasn't aware of that and that he will go check it out tonight.

He wound up issuing a refund for the purchase price and the room tax, he let us keep the room, the gift certificates and the food vouchers. I gave him back the bull**** vouchers.

THIS OFFER IS AS CLOSE TO FRAUDULENT AS YOU CAN GET.

    *******************************

Also, I might mention that the free Nathan Burton Tickets usually work this way. You show up and they tell you that all the free seats have been taken, but they can give you a seat for $10 or give you a reservation for far in advance. I thought it was worth the price and we saw it for $10 because Wild Bill and I had not time flexibility. I have read of other people getting the same bait and switch run around. My next 23 day trip I'll go there first and make a reservation for sometime in those three weeks and see it again, but this time for free. It looked to me like the free seats were in the first row of the balcony and when that was filled, that was it.

Mac king can usually be had free from all sorts of sources. Generally the carnival court has some. One fellow who could not find any asked for a discount at the cashiers and for $13 got the show and a free drink.

    ***************************
Maybe someone knows about the Gerry McCambridge. I'll be looking for free tickets around for that on my next visit.

    *****************
So I think that there was some value in the free tickets and the $100 restaurant.com gift card seemed to take the edge off the disappointment. Then the Plaza acted to just comp this guy, so that was nice. But the freeplay was worthless.

And the cost of the rooms was double or triple the rack rate for even the most expensive nights in the next few months. I would not have wanted to catch this deal on a night when the Plaza rack rate is $26.

Apparently... I have not checked the Vegas Tripping page in a while. Wonder what they're saying about it now...

I guess the old saying is true: "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is..."

If anyone booked this deal and wants a better one, call Plaza and tell them. They have created a way to drop the old deal and replace it with something they stand behind that is not part of the too good to be true deal on this thread.
