  • Thoughts on the Riviera $1000 signup promo?

Conspicuously absent from the Vegas Values reports lately is the Riviera's $1000 signup promo, in which apparently they will give you 50% of your losses back in promo slot play in each of two visits, up to a total of $1000. This seems like one of the best promos I have ever heard of for non-high rollers, so I was surprised by the lack of discussion here and elsewhere. Has anyone tried this and what are your experiences? Does Vegas Values not usually cover first-timer promos or is there some other issue with it?

Here is a link to the promo web page: http://www.rivierahotel.com/las-vega...viera-rewards/

Or am I totally out to lunch and it is being discussed somewhere that I somehow missed? If so can you please point me to it.

Also I understood someone on another board (flyertalk) to say that you couldn't get the promo if you play video poker, only slots. Is that accurate?

    Thanks folks.

Scot Krause said he will mention the promo in next week's Vegas Values report.

It seems like a good deal, but unfortunately, I don't know of anyone who has tried out the program.

We went to the Riviera Casino in Las Vegas last week and participated in the signup promo. I lost $500 and got $250 e-cash immediately. I got a voucher for the remaining $250 e-cash and can use it next month and have a year to redeem it. My wife lost $300 and got $150 e-cash immediately and a voucher for the remaining $150 e-cash. The restriction that we didn't like was we could not lose our money on any slot machine that had an in house progressive prize. Also, we could not use the e-cash on some slot machines. Besides that, we had fun betting the max on several slot machines. Too bad we never hit anything big.

Will video poker play qualify for the promotion?

Also, do you know how they calculate losses? For example, if you play twice for a dollar each, and you lose $1 on the first spin and you win $1 on the second spin (i.e. pay $2, win $1 plus getting back your $1 bet) for a total net win of zero, will they refund the first $1 lost for purposes of the promotion?

        thanks

I don't know if video poker counts. The loss is your real loss. If you start with a hundred dollar bill and play until it is gone you have lost just $100 no matter if you had some winnings spins along the way. I put in $500 last week and played until it was gone. I then went to the player's club and they said I lost $500 and immediately put $250 e-cash onto my card and gave me a voucher for the remaining $250 e-cash to be redeemed at a future visit.
