    Re: Pearl river resort

The Pearl River Resort is owned by the Mississippi branch of the Choctaw Indian tribe and is located near Philadelphia, MS, a town of about 8,000. It consists of two casino/hotels, the Silver Star and the Golden Moon. The two are built on opposite sides of the highway that leads into the resort and are connected by an enclosed walkway over the road; they function pretty much as a single entity rather than as separate casinos.

There are ten or so restaurants between the two, with one outstanding (and expensive) high-end choice (Phillip M's). The buffets are about the same as most mid-range ones in Las Vegas.
Rooms in the Golden Moon are very nice (I haven't stayed in the Silver Star, but the Golden Moon was built several years later so I assume its rooms are a little better).

Gambling has one big weakness (at least for someone like me who plays primarily video poker) - while there are seemingly acres of machines, only a very small percentage of them are video poker. All the usual table games as well as live poker are available.

The resort has an excellent golf course, and a water park is open in the warm weather months. This is a very rural area, so other than that there is nothing much to do.

Fairly big-name entertainers appear a couple of times a month, mainly on week-ends.
    Hope this helps - - -
