  • Trend re: Coupon Acceptance

The trend regarding coupon acceptance by casinos seems to be 'VOID' if detacted from book.

My suggestion for 2009 ACG would be as follows...

#1 Make it a two part book....have the heavy-stock 'DISCOUNT CARD' page at the beginning of the coupons...possibly looking more like the book cover...and here, the book can be separated to include a much smaller & separate 'coupon only book', but still identifiable as a valid and intack book.

#2 Reduce the coupon book size & volume of pages by eliminating the white boarders of the coupon pages and size to 4 coupons per page vs the current 3/page

Some will gripe and some will threaten to not buy the book (if they can not detach), but most won't cut off their own nose. This is the trend, so please give this consideration.

And, it should prevent massive trading....which benifits a few at a cost to all of us.

I will keep it in mind.

We are also working on other ideas.

I agree with Lynn on this subject.Down size the coupons, divide the book into 2,3,or4 separate removable sections for easier carrying or separate books for each type of coupon that casinos, restaurants, gaming, etc... will honor. Steve, Thanks for giving it thought. Keep us updated with your ideas. A few may screw it up for everyone.

How about perforating the coupon pages so it is a little easier to remove the coupons?

I try to cut then and I can the scissors around 2 sides but I have to tear it from the spline of the book. I end up with a lot of mangled coupons.

What I liked about ACG is that I could put the coupon and the card ( for when Pete at Ellis Island asks for it) in my shirt pocket and don't have to carry a rather bulky book with me.

          Re: Trend re: Coupon Acceptance

I like the ACG. I usually buy 2 of them. I could buy other casino coupon books, but I don't. However it is way too bulky to carry with me. It doesn't fit, or fit well, in fanny packs either. A few years ago, when the casinos were requiring that coupons be intact, I set the book down and lost it. I will not go through that again.

Perhap this fuss is a bit premature. So far there are only a few places that are not accepting the coupons. I could care less about Boulder Station and if I never ate another buffet at Fiesta Rancho, I could live with that too. As someone else said, it sure seems dumb for a casino to risk losing gaming customers over a free buffet. Hopefully they will see the error of their ways.

If the coupons could be more manageable, or acceptably separated from the book, I would be in favor of that.
