  • Tipping a casino host?

We have a wonderful casino host! Is tipping appropriate? If so what is the proper way to tip?

If not what can we do to show our appreciation of their services?

    Re: tipping

Generally a host cannot take cash but a present such as a new tie or possibly a restaurant gift card is appropriate. I believe the best way to show appreciation is to write a letter to the casino GM in which you tell how much you enjoyed your casino visit and you expound on how much you appreciate the things the host did for you. A copy of the letter will generally be placed in the host's personnel file. I did this for my host at the Cannery casino last year and he was very appreciative.

A possible good gift for a male host is a nice tie. They can always use an extra one!

When talking to your host try to find out their interests and give them an appropriate gift. For example, a golfer can always use a few packs of golf balls, a fisherman can use a new lure etc.
