Win percentage at Nevada casinos

Below info came out of the usa today, this seems to dispute a lot that I've ever read on the winning %in many articles and such.Submitted by the Nevada State Gaming Control Board.. What am I missing??

The numbers they show for table game percentages are not really relevant to calculating a casino's mathematical advantage at those particular games.

To understand how those win percentages are calculated you need to start off with a basic lesson in how casinos do their accounting.

Casinos measure their take in table games by the drop and the win. The drop is the count of all of the receipts (including cash and credit markers) that go into the drop box located at the table. Later, an accounting is made to see how much more (or less) they have at that table than they started with. This amount is known as the win.

The USA Today win percentages shows you how much the casinos won as a percentage of the drop. For example, on the roulette table for every $100 that went into the drop box the casino won $19.70 or 19.70%. What it doesn’t tell you, however, is how much the casinos won as a percentage of all the bets that were made. In other words, the drop tells you how many chips were bought at that table, but it doesn’t tell you how many bets were made with those chips.

For example, if you buy $100 worth of chips at a blackjack table and play $10 a hand you don’t bet for exactly 10 hands and then leave the table, do you? Of course not. You win some hands and you lose some hands and if you counted all of the times you made a $10 bet before you left the table you would see that your original $100 in chips generated many times that amount in bets.
