WHAT: For the 14th straight year, the region’s finest competitive eaters will converge upon New York-New York Hotel & Casino for a chance to qualify for the highly anticipated Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
The winner of the 3 p.m. main event on April 23 will be crowned the “Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champion” and will earn the right to represent Las Vegas in the 96th Annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y.
According to archives, the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest has occurred each July 4th in Coney Island, NY since 1916, the year Nathan Handwerker opened the legendary restaurant.
Major League Eating, the governing body of all stomach-centric sports, sanctions the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Circuit and ensures the contests are judged professionally and that safety standards are in place at each event.
