  • Plaza Hotel & Casino to open two new exhibits inside the Las Vegas Club Gallery

Las Vegas, Nev. – Late last year, the Plaza Hotel & Casino opened a special gallery featuring numerous sports themed items that once decorated the iconic Las Vegas Club Hotel & Casino. Hundreds of sports related items were available to the public to view and purchase. Now, that many of the items have been purchased, the Plaza is excited to welcome two new displays inside the Las Vegas Club Gallery.

On Friday, Jan. 15, famed local artist Jerry Misko will open an exhibit of his edition prints and one-of-a-kind paintings of nostalgic Las Vegas neon signs in the Las Vegas Club Gallery. A native Las Vegan, Misko has been a practicing artist in Las Vegas for the past 12 years, working on projects with the city of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Neon Museum, the Contemporary Arts Collective, First Friday, and many other local arts organizations, private companies, collectors and galleries. His acclaimed, retro-meets-modern interpretations of classic Las Vegas icons will be available for sale.

On Thursday, Feb. 4, the Museum of Gaming History (MOGH), a not-for-profit, educational project of The Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc., will open its “Union Plaza Then and Now” exhibit. The exhibit will be free to the public and will contain artifacts from when the hotel/casino first opened through the last five decades. The exhibit will have about 150-200 items including chips, tokens, dice, ashtrays, post cards and numerous other branded artifacts, as well as a light box display of a rare slot glass collection. The exhibition will also include a wall of photographs spanning the Plaza’s history from its groundbreaking to current day prominence and a 30-minute video about the Plaza’s place in the historic development of downtown Las Vegas.

“The Plaza offers a nostalgic and vintage experience for its guests and these additions to the Las Vegas Club Gallery are a perfect fit,” said Jonathan Jossel, Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO. “We were excited by the overwhelming interest our guests had in the sports memorabilia when we opened the Las Vegas Club Gallery in November. There was so much interest that a majority of the items are now sold. But, we wanted to maintain a space that paid homage to our history and downtown while still offering guests the opportunity to bring something classic and memorable home with them. The Museum of Gaming History exhibit and the unique artwork of local artist Jerry Misko perfectly fit our vision for how we wanted the gallery to evolve.”
