  • Vegas "Virgin" with questions & Intro. :)

    Hello,

I'm a new user to the forum, would like to say "Hello" from Beautiful South Florida to all, as I'm planning my first trip to Vegas. I will be there for 8 days, 7 nights, traveling solo, staying downtown, using the CAT, in 2 weeks beginning on a Tuesday. I'm considering a weekend car rental for part of my coupon runs, but undecided.

OK, I lied. This will be my second trip, my first occuring in the late 60's. (before I was 21 but I did have a fake ID). But that's a different "Trip Report", and since I did not tell my Mom, I probably won't tell you either.

    Have things changed much? LOL

I am far from a casino virgin, play poker almost exclusively, and consider myself knowledgeable and an Advantage Player when it comes to casino's. I have been to numerous casino's within the contiguous US, from Connecticut, NJ, Mississippi, Louisiana, California, Florida cruise ships, and more. But never Las Vegas. I had a great traveling job that got me to many places for extended stays and free weekends. I was the only single guy, and did not insist on coming home on weekends, willing to go to any state with casino's, and would stay for 2-3 weeks or more if neccesary. I have dealt most casino table games and poker, and currently am a poker grinder.

I understand and have used the comp system, ratings, slot advanatge play, host relationships too my benefit. Been in one table joints in Deadwood, and hundred table joints elsewhere. I only play slots or table games when I have an advantage. Otherwise, it's the Poker Rooms for me. I've whored myself on the local casino ships with VIP programs that gave $100 matchplay with $1000 buy in's, or "Equal Action" chips on the cruise to nowhere ships, making as many as 13 trips in one week. (No Cash Value Chip deals 25% off get 250.00 for 187.00) Sometimes both 'deals' were in play at the same time on those 5 hour cruises, which included free food, and were very lucrative while they lasted.)

My first, and most important question is, Will the casino's accept the ACG, and also the LVA coupons during my visit to their "joint"?

Do they "track" the coupons on player club cards, etc? Will I be able to use both (ACG & LVA) back to back (so to speak) or will I need to 'wait' or re-visit after the shift change (or dealer change in poorly run joints) ? Should I get a second ACG for the coupons to use on a different shift? BTW, I do know and understand the need to disguise my "action", and I'm pretty good at it. I will almost always buy in for 100+ even when I only intend to use the MP and run. It's easy to "Go to the restroom".

I do have Player Club cards for many properties outside Nevada, and many of those now have the same owners. Will already having a club card from Mississippi, etc impact my coupon use in Las Vegas?

I obtained a great deal on my vacation package for this trip, and expect to devote 3+ days to coupon runs. (Downtown, Strip, Outlying) I've calculated that if I have reasonable success and luck using both books, I could actually "recover" the cost of my online vacation package. For those who are curious, I'll be at Binion's, (Yeah, I know it's old, historic, but won't be in the room much anyway) for 7 nights, arriving from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a non-stop flight, all for $291.00 (traveling solo) With ground shuttle downtown, and cost of checking a bag on the flight, my trip still comes in at less than 350.00.

Wow. Them's a lot of words for a few questions.

I'll file a trip report when I return.

There is no clear cut answer on how each casino, or for that a particular shift of pit bosses/dealers, handles the ACG and LVA.
It's a mixed bag wherever you go.

      Thanks for the response.

      Any suggestions?

Is a second copy of ACG going to be worth the price? Will I, most likely, be able to use the coupons next day or different shift, or during a second trip in August?

I'm only going to be using the "cash" coupons... MP, slots, etc.

      Thanks

We have never personally experienced a problem with ACG. I don't subscribe to LVA and can't speak about those.

I've heard that some folks do experience problems. It may be obvious they are playing the coupon and leaving - I don't know.

I have been known to trade coupons and wind up with several match plays at the same casino. I usually try to use them on different shifts or by skipping a day so as to not rub their noses in the fact that I've got multiples.

If you exercise some degree of caution, I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.

          Addendum:

Very few - if any - casinos track the use of the ACG coupons.

While thats true for MP coupons, I've run into many barriers trying to use a second free slot play coupon at almost every casino. These seem to be one per person per year. Most casinos say one MP per day, which translates to one per shift in most cases. Two people should have no problem using one each.
