  • Paranoid Utes

A strange thing happened to me at the Ute Mountain Casino, an Indian casino in western Colorado.

While playing the penny slot machine "Jaws" for the first time ever, I was interrupted and escorted to the security office by 2 security guards. They would not tell me what was going on.

When I got there the 'Big Kahuna' wanted to know what I was writing in my notebook.

I told him that I always write down every game I play and how much I put in and out for each game.

    He said it looked suspicious.

I left and went to another game wrote it down and again was escorted to the office.

He told me to not write anything down. They made me feel like a criminal.

Being in the middle of nowhere I decide I had enough and went to bed. It was late anyway.

The next morning I made a complaint to the head of the casino and she sided with the security guys. I guess they never heard of the RNG.
They thought I was a threat to their casino with my $75.

In all my years of gambling I have never been questioned by any casino personal of my note taking.

I have been taking notes since 1997 when the Odyssey (Ft. Knox and Buccaneer) machines came out.

I started to record every game I played on March
2, 2002 when my wife won $10,000 on a duck at Grand Casino Gulfport.

I guess the Utes thought I was a dangerous character to their casino.

Has anyone out there been harrassed by casino security at any other casino?

Now I understand your title (LOL). That is odd that the Big Kahunas would be so worried about a person writing notes. I can see if you were taking pictures or using some kind of Iphone software application but pen and paper, now that is paranoia alright (ha-ha).

I had a situation one time at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora, Illinois.

I brought a notebook with me, as I usually do, and security followed me all around the place. I only found out they were following me when the general manager came over and asked me some questions.

After I introduced myself and mentioned a mutual acquaintance he was fine. I think that sometimes they are concerned that someone might be with another casino and are taking notes for business competition purposes.
