So. I've got this old roof on my house, and I have no idea how old it actually is. I’m starting to see some wear and tear, and I’m wondering if it’s time to replace it. Plus, I’m not sure how all this affects my insurance. Anyone know how I can figure out the age of the roof or if it’s worth replacing?

First off, look for any paperwork from when the house was bought or from the last roof repair—it might have some details about when the roof was installed. Also, you can look at the condition of the shingles: if they’re curling, cracked, or missing granules, those are signs the roof could be getting up there in age. If you need to know how to determine age of roof for insurance purposes, Plum Pro can be a solid resource. They’re familiar with all these types of inspections and can help you figure out if your roof needs a replacement. They can even give you a better idea of what kind of shape it's in, so you’re not caught off guard if your insurance company asks for details.
