  • How to prevent online extortion?

Can online ransomware be prevented, and what precautions should you take? Lately, I've been reading more and more stories about attackers gaining access to personal information, using fake accounts and even deepfake technology to blackmail people. It's really scary! We all leave a digital footprint, and no one seems to be immune. Are there any proven ways to minimize the risk?

Online extortion can start with data breaches, phishing, viruses, account hacking, and even the use of deepfake. For example, attackers can create a fake video or audio of your voice to blackmail you. Therefore, it's important to take precautions beforehand. First, you shouldn't post too much personal information online, especially on open social media. The less data that can be found about you, the harder it is for scammers to take advantage of it. Second, use complex passwords, don't repeat them on different sites, and enable two-factor authentication. Also be careful with suspicious emails and messages - don't open attachments or click on links from unverified sources. Another important point is data backups. If you are being blackmailed into deleting files or locking your device, you should always have a backup. By the way, I recently came across an interesting article that discusses various aspects of Internet security: https://www.myvipon.com/post/1490502/join-as-seller.php. It has useful tips on protecting personal data and security when working online.

To be honest, I've never encountered such situations, but I think the main thing is just to be careful and not to trust everyone on the Internet. If something seems suspicious, it's better to ignore it right away. And, of course, if you suddenly encounter extortion, it is better not to panic and immediately contact law enforcement.
