New Jersey Senate committee approves online gambling for in-state casinos

New Jersey - June 4, 2010 State senators took the first step toward allowing Internet-based gaming in New Jersey today, releasing a bill from committee that would allow casinos to build online portals for poker, blackjack and many other games. Members of the Internet-gaming business lobby hailed the legislation as a significant step forward for New Jersey to establish itself as the first state to allow full Internet gaming within its state jurisdiction. Under the bill, the state would allow an intra-state online gambling network, relying on high-tech online software to allow customers within New Jersey's borders to access the casino-run online portals.

Slowly we move away from online prohibitions. It will be interesting to see how all this works. If states develop their own legal in-state operations, federal laws will ber pressured to liberalize and tax.
I hope it won't hurt the live casinos, and that the new and different oppotunities for cheating can be monitored minimized.
