If someone is playing slots with a friend's or a relative's card in the machine and hits a jackpot, would (or could) a casino withhold payment? How about if a newbie was playing unaware that another player's player card was in the machine and hits a jackpot ?

I don't believe it's a problem if you are playing with another player's card.
Four years ago in Atlantic City my friend won a $4,000 royal flush on my player's card at a Harrah's casino.
There was no problem. They paid him and never mentioned a word about my player's card being in the machine. -

That was a good question and a good answer. The friend got the $4000 and steve got credit for the plays. Everybody wins. When we go the casino I play BJ with my card in at the table while my wife plays her card and my duplicate card if we each have freeplay. Never had an issue that I am playing table and slot at the same time!

One time, at Buffalo Bill's State line I left my card in a machine,( as well as $26 dollars) and someone played it long enough on it to get me comped for a night on my room. We were there for a golf thing and I got a bit buzzed.
Another time I had two cards and I gave one to my friend to use while he played. He just didn't have any interest in getting a card of his own so I asked if he wouldn't mind putting in mine while he played. He plays penny slots. I got another comped night out of that one.
Then, we went to IP on another trip. I advised him to get a card. He dropped a grand on slots and has been receiving comp offers ever since, but rarely goes to LV. That was dumb. I should have asked him to use my card again.Comment
