I had seen a site that said they had 9/6 at HR down the stairs from Nobi, it doesn't exist,
no vp machine in that area? Also couldnot fine 9/6 at EC. I remember when?
That multistrike note might be correct. I know some VP players who play multistrike and have liked it there. I can't quite get the changes in strategy.
Other than that the 9/6 JOB went away a couple years ago. It came back when Dancer held his little talks there, at his insistence I heard, and then went away again. Like may other places, like the Orleans, the EC is letting 8/5 Bonus be its key full pay VP. I think of that as full pay in name only. And if I stoop to play it, I go to the Vue bar at the Fitz where it is linked to three progressive pay table lines that increase the EV most of the time.
However, there were more 10/7 quarter DB at EC than I remember. I played one. I think it was in the classics section and there was one in that narrow room on the way out the door to Ogden. There has been a fifty cent one as well near the Cashier's cage. I don't play much fifty cent, but sometimes I quit the live poker and just want to run $20 through somewhere for a bit. DB is a good game if you want to just quit after the first quad or after a twenty is gone.
None of these full pay could be played using the freeplay in the deal where you pay for the room and get freeplay and food back. For that I found a Deuces that did not look too bad and just ran the freeplay through once. I came out ahead.
I am new to Deuces and the pay tables are all over the place. I played what I thought was a good one later with money, but one line was not as it should have been for Downtown Deuces. So, I screwed up. At Sam's town I found near dunkin doughnuts the full pay Deuces I had been playing on the home computer Tutor. I'll stick to that this next trip unless I find that exact pay table somewhere else or that I copied the pay table wrong on the high royal Deuces.
The Deuces I played paid 4700 quarters on the royal. I wanted the volatility to work in my favor.
I dropped a bit of money at the EC. It was the end of my trip and I think I was lulled by my delight with the Cabana and a new plan to make the EC my homebase. Also, I think I was chasing that, "I want to get even before I go home" possibility.
We'll see if any of my losses generate any room comps closer to the time of my visit this November or next April. So far I have been restricted from rooms I was willing to buy. I won't be seeding the EC this next trip, just enjoying the poker, unless they drop that 7 day rule. With that restriction, it won't do for me what I would like.
Sam's would have done that last time when I booked 9 nights at $9.99. No seven day rule there. But I don't really want to be out on Boulder longer than about five nights a trip.
Actually, I am leaning again to using the Super 8 Koval as my paid room homebase for most of my trip with the laundry, wifi, good TV, free rides to and from the airport, heated pool open 24 hours and a great location for the Flamingo game. Ellis has 9/6JOB, great food, and free morning bingo on weekdays.
We've used the parking at the Super 8 but never stayed there. Think I investigated one time and found it to be relatively expensive. I, too, like the idea of the laundry and the proximity of Ellis Island.

There have been a lot of downgrades at the Hard Rock LV. The only 9/6 JoB there now is on $5/$10/$25 in the high limit room. It looks like vpfree2.com has the current information.
The Super 8 is not always expensive, especially if a weekend is included in the booked nights. I have paid around $40 a night. In general, it competes with other off strip hotels and may be the best deal when wifi is considered in the math. It compares well with the prices of El Cortez Cabana.
The rooms are small, but I like them much better than the EC Pavillion or Vintage. The amenities are big and I like the location for live poker, an easy walk to Flamingo.
I am still pretty annoyed at this new late acting resort fee of the EC. I actually added a week in October to my trip, so as to manage 14 nights in a row in the same place, booked the October seven and then could not get the price I had booked before for the November seven, so I ended up at the Gold Spike for the next nine. A good deal at $27 (tax and resort fee included) average per night.
Well, JOB is still alive and well in downtown at the Four Queens and at Main Street Station and also at Vegas Club. It will be interesting to see if the Plaza renovation includes some decent VP. All the hooplah over the Mayor's steakhouse will be for naught if the bottom line includes no good gambling.
When I checked the VP2, it has it listed as .25 and the location I named. That was before my June trip. Perhaps they have updated since then.
There have been many updates to the vpFREE2.com video poker inventory at the Hard Rock LV since June, most of them downgrades. Current inventory is here: vpFREE2: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Best Games
