  • Stratosphere caps resort fee

Here is an interesting note on the Stratosphere resort fee. They charge $7.50 a night but only for the first 5 nights. You could actually book there for 28 nights and you still would only be charged a resort fee of $37.50, bringing the average resort fee charge down to $1.34 a night and have an everyday admission to the tower as an amenity.
Even booking 10 days cuts the nightly fee in half of what shows on the chart.
Ironically, as the Stratosphere is creating policy to encourage longer stays, the El Cortez has a $25 a night fee for each night over 7 in a calendar month.

This is not called a "resort fee," but it is the same idea only it waits a week to kick in and doesn't pretend amenities.

So, if you wanted to book a dozen nights and were comparing the price of the El Cortez and the Stratosphere, you would have to do this complicated math.

Stratosphere - capped fee of $37.50 or a bit over $3 a night
    El Cortez - waiting-in-the-booking-bushes-to-pounce-fee would be $10 a night.

And at the Stratosphere you have the pool and you have that great tower that comes with free access for all the folks in the room for the length of your stay. That's right, you could have breakfast coffee for 28 days overlooking Vegas from the Stratosphere tower and pay $1.34 cents for the privilege.

We don’t like resort fees at all, but at least the Stratosphere is heading in the right direction. Sounds like a pretty good deal and thanks for the info. (Really..... shame on the El Cortez)
