  • Casino Chip Collecting

Okay I feel like an idiot, so maybe someone can help me out here. A few years ago I began collecting $1 chips from casinos in Vegas and everywhere else. I would keep a $1 chip from the tables normally, but sometimes I wouldn't win and not have a chip. I also haven't been able to get chips from the higher limit places (Wynn, Venetian, etc.) because I simply don't gamble there.

Someone told me I can just go to the cashier cage and buy a $1 chip and be done with it. Does anyone know if this is true???

    Re: Casino Chip Collecting

I have a friend who collects $1 chips and I sometimes buy them for him when I visit new casinos.

As far as I know the cage is only for cashing in chips.

If you want to buy a $1 chip just go to any gaming table and buy it.

I would try to do it at a table with as few players as possible. Otherwise, the players might be annoyed if you interrupted their game.

Also, tell the dealer that you are collecting the chips so you would appreciate it if they could give you a chip that wasn't too worn out.

I have done that and they did try to give me one of the better looking chips in the tray. Especially, if it was an empty table and the dealer was bored.

      One more thing.

You can go to a table with any minimum bet to buy your $1 chip.

So, if you see a $100 blackjack table and no one is at the table, don't be afraid to go up and buy your $1 chip!
