    Re: Renovation at Terribles

I'll look for the 8/5 the next time. I'd play that in quarters. VP Free just says they are scattered around the casino, so if you are there anytime soon, send me a good landmark for where to find those games.
I can't play Multistrike, which my friend Catherine says, is the crack cocaine of video poker. I like watching her play and having her explain how strategy changes as the game progesses, but I could never memorize that complicated strategy she uses. I'm lucky just to remember the plain strategy for Bonus. This winter I'm once again practicing my tutor to prepare for the Deuces Wild games at Sam's Town whenever I get to go to Vegas again. I've lost a lot of what I knew. Of course, I can look up hands. My buddy says a talk with his host suggests that Sams Town comps are triggered by 6 hours a day of play, even if the play is slow, so I don't mind taking time to look up the hard plays there. So far, I'm not getting much from them in comps and I've given them decent enough play, about the same play gets me two free nights twice a year at the Orleans, but all I get from Terribles can't beat the ACG coupon deal.
I know I am going to pay for rooms at Eastside Cannery on my next trip so I can do laundry and get free wifi. I'll play live poker there, but VP at Sam's Town. I like the 202 bus service going down Flamingo right from the Eastside Cannery. I have not used their pool yet. Sam's Town pool is cool with an early opening and good music. Terrible's pool is really delightful, a hidden off strip wonder.

Again, a good deal at Terribles would put me an easy bus ride to Sam's Town for their morning live poker tournament and some Deuces. So I'm tempted to stay there as well for a couple days at the beginning or at the end of a future trip just for the convenience of being close to the airport for a free shuttle to Terribles there and a free 108 ride back with no tip expected.

And I'm happy there is no resort fee at Tampa Hard Rock. Good for them.

They have 8/5 Bonus Poker for quarters.

If you want to be a little more adventurous, they also have that same game, in super times pay coupled with multi-strike! That could be a wild ride, but the proper strategy is very complicated. You do, however, also have the option to only play it as a multi-strike game.

Also, I forgot to mention that with the room offers they send, there is no daily resort fee.

I play there often enough. I just don't win. What do you play? My last trip I played 7-5 Bonus but I'm not really happy playing that pay table. And I lost money. I have never gotten any room offers or I would go, but maybe I need to change my address for the winter to the one down here. Rooms are a nutty price for cash and there is nothing in the area much that I like for staying overnight. I can get there in a couple hours from here and I go when I have an airport pickup or dropoff. Last trip I went to lunch with an old buddy at Sweet Tomatoes and bought a cooler full of organic kale at a price at Rollin' Oats good food store and picked up three kids at the airport. That makes the trip worth while.
I also go to the silks room at the track some days as that is actually less of a drive.
Check my Ocala trip report from yesterday. I'm more excited about that venue, true low stakes games and no comps, but I'm not drinking much now on this new and radical diet so I just keep some Zetia and light snacks in the car and go for a break.

    Hey Dewey!

Do you ever stay at the Hard Rock?

I play quarter video poker there and they send me some pretty good deals.

I will be staying there for two nights, a Sunday and Monday and they comped the room both nights. Plus they are giving me $20 in food and $15 in free play.

I think you should try playing there on one of your trips and see what they send you.

The place is beautiful and it's right near the airport, so I usually try to stay there the night before heading home. That let's me wake up a little later the next day and then head right to the rental car return center near the airport.

Sorry to hear all that, Keno. I actually have not played there in years, but I think of it as one of the places I might stay and pay if the deal is right. I don't like the poker set up and as you say, much of the VP is eroded, so I mostly play off my matchplays and move on.

If the buffet is not as good, I'll be sorry, but honestly at the price they charge if they still have the huge bowl of melon, that will probably be enough.

What I like about it is location. It is so easy to use it as a last stop before the airport. And were I not getting better deals in other places, I'd use it for the first few nights in Vegas because it is just so easy to access after a long plane ride.

I also like it to access the Flamingo poker room. The bus stops right there and so it is safe to come back to a room early in the morning and just walk in and go to bed. I'll certainly stay at Eastside Cannery this trip as well, but that will be a long ride back from playing poker on the strip as is the ride back to the Gold Spike when I stay downtown.

If it erodes its local base, it will fail. Perhaps it is getting that. The article mentions that Terribles needs to be able to compete with Stations casinos. If it really does that, it will get better. The pool is great and now it looks like the regular rooms are better than they were.

i stayed at terribles in oct and dec. but it was mainly to use of points accumalated. to me they have driven out their locals. i was staying there about 4 times a year and had gotten to know some of the locals, in fact some were very helpful to me. i don't see their faces anymore. they have driven out their knowledgeable vp players. they ruined their breakfast buffet, some long time waitresses are gone. they reduced rewards program drastically. they have maintain their best dollars to points, but reduced their value in some cases. they still have some great specials in their cafe,
but some are bad, like the chicken. i guess if you were not a member before the changes, you can be happy there.

No Ferris wheel, but this is more on my level except I don't see any mention of VP tables or a new poker room. To compete with Station and Boyd they need to have both.
They have lost 95% of my play since they lowered the paytables, despite a improved exercise room and cleaner machines. Thanks for the info.
