I understand the Silver 7's [Terribles] has brought back their omelet bar to their breakfast buffet!

Re: Renovation at Terribles
Ate the breakfast buffet at Terribles on the 4th, I did not see any renovation. They had 1 choice for eggs- scrambled very moist, which is the way I like them, but they were too wet for me. As Dewey has stated it is a bargain for $4 with the card, for they have pretty good breakfast meat, made to order waffles, cereal fruit and chicken wings and other choices. Besides fast food has browns they had "country potatoes" which was good.

Re: Renovation at Terribles
I will be at Terribles late tonight, I will try to check the breakfast buffet, I am not planning on eating there. I need to use some points at the Tuscany, so I will probably have their steak and eggs special very good and even if your paying it has a decent price.

Re: Renovation at Terribles
Terribles is probably the smallest and least exciting buffet in Vegas. However, with all the free coupons and the low prices, it is one of the cheapest. I would not go there to "gourge."
If both your wife and you have American Casino Guides and you want a fairly standard buffet, I suggest you use the coupon that gives a free buffet with 200 points played at the Gold Coast. You can get there on the free shuttle that leaves from Bally's (until the construction for CET is done)
Or walk across the street from the Gold Coast to the Palms and use the coupon there for a free buffet with minimal play.
EI food is very good and inexpensive as well, and portions are fine. The barbecue is well liked there. The steak special is one of the best values in Vegas and the American Casino Guide coupon will get a nice prime rib at a two for one price. Or other entres. If you eat there the first night and use your American Casino Guide freeplay coupon, you can then redeem the play 24 hours later.
I go to Terribles for breakfast because I don't want to eat much and I want to pay very little. They take 2 for 1 coupons for 50% for one so breakfast is a cheap deal. It is a long walk from the Westin.
Tuscany is fine, again with the American Casino Guide coupon, but again "gourge" is not the right word. Portions are normal and it is not a buffet.
Then for a bit more upscale Planet Hollywood, Paris, Bellagio are all in walking distance. However, I find that the new price increases make them less the value they once were.
The best buffet values currently are the Station Casinos, but they are a long way from where you are staying and impractical to go to just to eat.Last edited by dewey089; 03-01-2013, 06:16 PM.

Thanks LV local. That was great. I'll look forward to playing there on my next trip. Especially now that CET has resort fees, Eastside Cannery may easily be a new destination.

If you know, or if you are up that way, give them a look and let us know what you find.

Re: Renovation at Terribles
I noticed that Terribles has a French Deuces Wild, which replaces the pancakes for french toast for $3.99 with card in the cafe.

Has anybody eaten the buffet since the renovation? Specify whether breakfast, lunch, brunch, or dinner.

Just read your comment on the 4 queens in trouble! I hope not, I have been expanding my relationship with them over the last 3 trips and they have treated me well.

Re: Renovation at Terribles
I'm sorry you lost money. Maybe next trip will be more lucky.
I'm also sorry I'm an idiot.
For a while we were talking about very different Hard Rock casinos. Thanks to LV local that got cleared up or I'd have been looking for 8/5 Bonus in Tampa. Duh!!!!!!!
In Vegas I generally only play one 8/5, that is the progressive at the Vue bar at the D. The three progressive lines ups the EV and they will give me at least a 2 for 1 deal which brings the price of the nights down to about $20 or less. I like that because I can piggy back that booking to the Four Queens booking and have 7 nights with an effortless check in check out, almost like doing it in the same casino. I always have more time than money when I go, so I target my play for the best EV and some room offers or comps.
I put most of my VP money in the 10/7DB progressives at the Four Queens. Nothing fancy about the rooms, but they give me weekends of 3 nights in a row. I like that. Some trips I get three in one month and another three in the next month, maybe as part of a free slot tournament.
I like the Four Queens. I have heard from a buddy who knows that they are struggling there to stay afloat. I hope they do. I'll miss them if they go. I was hoping that soon Binions would reopen rooms again, but that looks less likely I guess.
I'm trying not to only take 2 nights in a row comps as the check in and check out makes me a bit crazy. Maybe I'll do it for an Orleans weekend as I have two free nights coming there if I make it before the end of April, but the rest of the time I'm trying for at least 3 in a row and hopefully 5. the price of weeday rooms can still be had at a decent rate.
At the Orleans I only play triple play nickle progressives that are 9/7 DB and I try to do that on senior Tuesdays.
The rest of my VP is short term, coupled with earning some comp, like the buffet Boyd offers with play. Sometimes if I am up money, I'll gamble more than just the minimum at the Gold Coast or Sam's Town for the buffet. I keep hoping that Sam's will send me some offers of value. So far, not too much. I love their full pay Deuces and one machine near that Dunkin Doughnuts also has 10/7 DB so I can switch between them. I did recently hear that playing 6 hours a day makes a difference in mailings even the play is perhaps more slow than I usually go. I may try that strategy next trip.
But it seems like you got great comps at the Hard Rock. The rooms there must be nice, certainly nicer than my usual basic digs.
My strategy needs to be different because I am there for 23-25 days at a stretch, getting the most out of the air fare, and I can't gamble VP for that total length of time. I can play live low limit poker. I can't lose too much doing that.
Also I am always solo so the room quality matters little to me. It is nice to have some wifi (Gold Spike or Eastside Cannery) a laundry for mid trip (Super 8 or Eastside Cannery) and a major luxury is Turner Classic movies for the day that I just collapse from too many all night poker games (Super 8 or Gold Spike and maybe Eastside Cannery but I'm not sure) The Plaza used to give TCM but then they used to have a live poker room with good food comps too.
I am heading up to Ocala tomorrow again for the lowest live poker game perhaps in America. 1-3 spread limit with old folks from the Villages. I mix in 1-1 no limit. The players are terrible so the odds ought to be in my favor. But after two trips I'm behind $24 and there is no free coffee, let alone beer.
Well, glad to have you back Steve. The weather is beautiful here and that is more than I think you can say for Vegas lately. Better luck next trip.Last edited by dewey089; 01-22-2013, 07:55 PM.

Originally posted by dewey089 View PostI'll look for the 8/5 the next time. I'd play that in quarters. VP Free just says they are scattered around the casino, so if you are there anytime soon, send me a good landmark for where to find those games.
I can't play Multistrike, which my friend Catherine says, is the crack cocaine of video poker. I like watching her play and having her explain how strategy changes as the game progesses, but I could never memorize that complicated strategy she uses. I'm lucky just to remember the plain strategy for Bonus. This winter I'm once again practicing my tutor to prepare for the Deuces Wild games at Sam's Town whenever I get to go to Vegas again. I've lost a lot of what I knew. Of course, I can look up hands. My buddy says a talk with his host suggests that Sams Town comps are triggered by 6 hours a day of play, even if the play is slow, so I don't mind taking time to look up the hard plays there. So far, I'm not getting much from them in comps and I've given them decent enough play, about the same play gets me two free nights twice a year at the Orleans, but all I get from Terribles can't beat the ACG coupon deal.
I know I am going to pay for rooms at Eastside Cannery on my next trip so I can do laundry and get free wifi. I'll play live poker there, but VP at Sam's Town. I like the 202 bus service going down Flamingo right from the Eastside Cannery. I have not used their pool yet. Sam's Town pool is cool with an early opening and good music. Terrible's pool is really delightful, a hidden off strip wonder.
Again, a good deal at Terribles would put me an easy bus ride to Sam's Town for their morning live poker tournament and some Deuces. So I'm tempted to stay there as well for a couple days at the beginning or at the end of a future trip just for the convenience of being close to the airport for a free shuttle to Terribles there and a free 108 ride back with no tip expected.
And I'm happy there is no resort fee at Tampa Hard Rock. Good for them.
Unfortunately, I had a bad trip and couldn't win at video poker. I'll have to get them next time!
The quarter 8/5 bonus poker at the Hard Rock is located in the new casino between the roulette table and the cashier cage. There is a bank of eight multi-denomination machines which also offer Illinois Deuces for quarters.
The Hard Rock had sent me a very good offer of two free nights (with no resort fee), plus $15 in free play and a $20 food credit. So, even though I lost, I had a nice time and I believe that the value of the offer was around $200.
