Sure makes Boyd seem a good deal not to mention Eastside Cannery.

wow, resort fees are the reason I stay with Caesar's and avoid MGM properties. The strip is becoming a monopoly of CET and MGM casinos.

I believe LVH still has no resort fees. Honestly, I think Tropicana, LVH, Casino Royale, T.I., Stratosphere, and Riviera are the only non CET or MGM affiliated properties left on the strip.

I know technically LVH is off-strip and Strat and Riviera are on the north-end, but LVH is accessible via the monorail.

I think you're right Dewey, Boyd is the way to go now. We've always stayed at Flamingo, but we're staying at Orleans are next trip out for the strip portion of our trip.

      Say it ain't so Caesar's!!!

Actually, LVH has a reverse resort fee.
If you give up the amenity of room service, they will give you a voucher for $10 a day for food. Ask for a sign for the door, Go Green, I think.

I have been fortunate in the recent past to get some great room prices at Bally's,that resort fee may put an end to that.

Oh I know, but it's more economical than the MGM and CET properties. I've noticed that places like Boyd and Station Casinos have resort fees, but you can usually get such a a good room deal, that the resort fee doesn't make it too high.

For instance, my wife & I like to stay at Sunset Station when we visit my Aunt & Uncle in Henderson. They have a $15 per day resort fee. We can usually score a room for $40 a night during the week + the resort fee. So even at $55 + tax to me that's still a good deal.

The resort fees are a game. Chances are you'll be staying at a place that charges them, but if you get a good room deal, it takes the sting away some.

Re: resort fees coming to CET

CET resort fees are for any booking after March 1.

Orleans, Gold Coast, and Sam's Town when I have booked on B Connected have promised in the small print to charge a small resort fee, but it has not appeared on the bill when I checked out and no one had a reason for it not being charged. Other folks I talk to don't confirm this as policy. The fee is small and will make these places still good bargains especially if you get special rates with play and B connected offers. I generally think of them as closer to the no resort fee places than the resort fee places. NO fee is charged on fully comped rooms. The Orleans twice a year gives me two weekend nights and $10 food credit with no resort fee. One of those offers expires in April and another goes May thru October.
Other experiences in booking, except for the Gold Spike, seem to indicate that the resort fee in hotel night comparisons is the deal breaker. I've been wanting to try some other places. but even the fees of $8 tend to put the hotel above the other deals that I can manage. I managed Gold Spike rooms for $12 ($21 with resort fee). I think they mainly keep the fee to enable them to appear the cheapest rooms in Vegas on the low to high price searches. Their biggest competitor is El Cortez and generally they seem to beat the price for anything above the Pavillion. I don't stay in Pavillion or Vintage anymore due to noise, so I pick the Gold Spike because along with the room comes wifi, Turner Classic Movies, and a sometimes a heated pool. I like an early morning swim.

Re: resort fees coming to CET

Good information in this thread. I have found if I am comped at the Orleans and the GC that there is no resort fee. If I am not comped that fee applies. I will be considering the Gold Spike now, thanks Dewey.

The policy of Boyd is not to charge the fee on comped rooms.
Have you booked using B Connected and actually been charged the fee when you checked out? I'm trying to nail that practice down. Boyd answered an email of mine and said that they clearly indicate the fee when we are booking. But I don't see it in my bill. I'm not trying to make too big a thing of it, but I'd like to know if the feeless checkout is just a fluke or an unadvertised pattern.

Re: resort fees coming to CET

One time at check out they had the fee on my bill for a comped room, I brought it to their attention and it was taken off no problem. I have not had a paid room in a while but I seem to remember that I was surprised at the resort fee when it was placed on my bill the 1st time but being very small it didn't bother me. I have given them quite a bit of play over the last 3 years and I was wondering if I should ask for a host and ask for some free play? Because they have only offered me 2 nights, despite quite a bit of increasing play.

Re: resort fees coming to CET

I am certain that booking other places or directly on the phone will generate the resort fee. However, I can't nail down what happens with a B Connected booking. Those tend to be the best prices as well, so it would be good to know if they have bundled the fee in the marketing on that site. One clerk said that the resort fee charge "depends on how it is booked" and another said the booking agent made a mistake in not charging it. I did not push it and say it was B Connected so how could there be a mistake. I would like to know because often it is a deal breaker. The $6 fee at Orleans does not seem like much, but I'm booking $30 rooms, so it adds 20% to the bill. If I am comparing it to an alternative, the fee might be the deciding factor in the mathematics.

Re: resort fees coming to CET

I stayed at Sam's Town (which is a Boyd property) for three nights in January for free because I was invited to play in a slot tournament. I called and made my reservation over the phone. There was no resort fee on my bill.

I also stayed one more night at a rate of about $30. However, I had put in quite a bit of video poker play so I called a host and asked if he could comp that room night, which he did.
