  • Golden Nugget to charge hotel guests $5 a night for Fremont Street Experience

The Golden Nugget, an anchor of downtown Las Vegas, plans to start July 1 charging hotel guests $5 a night for the Fremont Street Experience.

The Fremont Street Experience no longer free at the Golden Nugget - VEGAS INC

What do you think of this idea Dewey?

I love it and I assume it is basically because of all the customers writing and asking for that fee. I 've been asking for more fees for a long while now.
I think my local grocery is finally going to charge a fee to folks who need to use a cart with wheels.
Then the gas station needs a fee to provide the canopy protection from rain while pumping.
And you should consider a membership card fee added to price of the American Casino Guide for that fine little card in the center of each book.
On the other hand it may well change the makeup of the poker table. It may attract those players who don't do the math. That will be a rather drastic change. Imagine playing against a table loaded with folks who say, "Hey, it's only money!!" and toss in their chips on third best hands.

However, for serious readers this is perhaps another place to mention that the D has no added fees. Instead they give back over a 4 day booking $15 in breakfast coupons, $10 in matchplays and a few other coupons that I did not use including a discount on the SCintas.
If you decide to stay there, however, the coffee maker is one of those upscale Kerig models and they charge $2.50 for each of the little cups. So bring a few with you. Your local store charges about 50 cents for each one. Or McDonald's is just downstairs for Newman's Own and they may have a senior coffee deal.
The Four Queens too has great prices and a coffee pot in the room that makes a few cups at a time. The coffee there is not as upscale, but it is free and they generously replenish.
Ironically, when I book downtown I ask for a room as far away from the Fremont Experience as possible. But so far none of the hotels seem to have a "quiet room" fee. Or an early booking fee for that matter. I got in one day last trip at 9 AM at the D and no one even reminded me that I was seven hours early.
