    Re: Norovirus Scare at Rio

I had that same norovirus about seven years ago in Las Vegas. However, it could never be confirmed.

I had trained for six months to run my first marathon. It was the Las Vegas marathon and my wife and I were both going to participate. We were staying at the Hotel at Mandalay Bay and ate at the buffet.

The next day I got terribly sick with all of the symptoms of a norovirus and I had to stay in the hotel room for three days. I never made it to the marathon, but my wife didn't get sick and she finished the race.

I called the Las Vegas health department to report the problem and they said it must have been an isolated incident as they had no other reports of people getting sick at the hotel.

I never did run any marathons, but the next year I finished the Las Vegas half-marathon, plus I have run two others since then: Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
