  • Four Queens

Some regular Four Queen lovers like me have noticed a downgrade in mailed offers lately. It may be that there is just a glitch in the formula for the mailings. Or it may be they are downgrading their comp policy.
I'd recommend calling and asking to be transferred to the hosts and talking with one.
You don't have to be connected to a particular host there. Anyone who answers is always quite willing to look up what is offered, to check my play, and sometimes to book something directly.
They do not do the mailings, but they can see who got one. Usually, mailings are sent out very late, perhaps a month before. So, it is good to book a backup that can be freely cancelled, especially if there is a threat that the traditional good mailed offers are going away.
For backups I like booking.com because they don't take more than one night up front and so lots of money is not tied up in holding a reservation. And actually, booking my favorite Niagara Falls motel with them did not cost me anything until I arrived.
Just don't expect to be able to modify a reservation and keep the first nightly charge. Cancelation is free, but dropping one day off a reservation means canceling the entire reservation and then rebooking at current prices.

    Re: Four Queens

I left Vegas on May 28, I had a great mailer for me 3 nights 200FP and food at cafe and pizza. I usually had 80 in FP and 3 nights. I recently received 2 mailers, one for the slot tour. 3 nights and the other 80FP and 3 nights. My previous trip I only had 2 days to play as I arrived at midnight. I did play hard and long but I did win. I felt the 4 Q has been very fair with me so I felt I gave them a shot at winning their money back.
As I hit a royal early on I made a point of playing a lot. I ended up with 33 dollars cashback with no doubling as I used the coupon on the last trip. I felt this was slighty above my average. I had to use the slot t. offer for this upcoming trip since it matched my desired stay. So do you think my play factored into the offers. I was thinking it was to close to the offers going out?

      Re: Four Queens

Good to know. I sure want to keep the 3 nights I get. I'll have to pay more attention to the food, but actually I can't eat most of what they give away.

My trip are planned around the Four Queens. And if I play any slots at all while I am in Vegas, I play them there so as to not seem just a VP player. In the past, a silver strike collector (now deceased) gave me a few hundred to run through to get the silver strikes he needed to trade for the big one. That certainly helped my look, but it was a while ago.
I don't play local lotteries but I like having the fantasy, so I do play a bit on Megabucks every trip and I play it there at the Four Queens.
      I figure everything helps.

Oh, let me add this bit. Usually the default prize for the slot tournament takes up some room in the suitcase, so I'd advise packing accordingly. I always take my largest but keep it at 50 pounds. Inside I have a light bag and I use that on my way home. Southwest still gives us two free bags. We are still using the fleece blankets that I got in one of the tournaments.
Then sometimes the last event has folks at an auction with their points and some bonus points awarded at the door. There too, even the smaller pieces require some luggage space.

I liked playing the tournament. It was mostly locals there. In the past couple years I have not had those three nights planned for my visit. It is nice to have six free weekend nights in one month as the regular mailings can be booked along with the tournament mailing in the same month.
The only way I get 6 nights otherwise is to overlap between the month at the end of one offer and the month at the beginning of the next. Although they would book me cheap through a host if I were to ask. I like straddling months because the D offer of 2 for 1 (with no resort fee) is good for 4 nights per month. Worked right this gets me 14 nights right in the same location for under $100 taxes and all. The good plays at the D are the progressive 8/5 bonus in the Vue bar and one coin dropping nickel machine, full pay Deuces.
Oh, a great slot for when the bankroll is low at the Four Queens is the nickel roulette. It is a single zero and they still add up the points while you play. I play that low volatility pattern of one bet on the black along with one on the third row that covers plenty of red numbers. This lets me play for hours. Last trip I was too tired for Golden Nugget poker and a little drunk so I played that a couple hours, recklessly losing 80 cents. That is how to stay in Vegas for 25 nights.
Say, if you hear any room deals for the end of October and beginning of November, let me know. A poker buddy is trying to book 28 - Nov 4 and of course the Halloween weekend makes it tough. He does not have any comps to draw on. Even the old Orleans dropped him. They dropped me for a while and then they started giving me a couple weekday nights again. Go figure. There I only play the triple play for nickles with the progressive royals, a 9/7 DB game that can be pretty good when the progressive royals are high. There is one for each of the three hands. One set of these is located to the right as you leave the buffet. it is no smoking. A smoking bank is located in another section of the casino. Plenty of locals play these, so seats are sometimes hard to come by, but if I stay there and wake up at 5-6 AM, they are available. I try to go on senior days for a free buffet and a cheap movie.
Let me know your next dates and if those work, we could connect. I stopped trying to connect with many folks as it gets hard and frustrating. Once I get to Vegas I don't have a smart phone or a wifi, so I end up sitting some place at a particular time and missing that the meetup was cancelled. Also, my sleeping patterns make scheduling hard. But we talk so often, we should get together one of these trips.
Good luck and keep posting the information. Lately family stuff is keeping me from going to Vegas. I'm hoping some of that will clear, but who knows. And new stuff is emerging as I write. Well, you know all about that.

Interesting, I also run some money through the Mega Bucks even though I don't play the lottery. I once played with my oldest son, he sent $50 so I called him when I went up over $300 and i stopped with a nice profit for both of us. He has not done it since. Darn! But he plays the lottey.

Thanks Dewey for the tip about suitcase space. I am flying SW not Allegiant so I should be ok, in addition its summer which means less bulk. I also plan a visit to the laundry in the middle of the trip. Have a great summer.
