Ho Chunk Casino at Baraboo, WI (Wisconsin Dells area) is my favorite Midwest casino. There is definitely something there for everyone. This is a very large casino with both smoking and non-smoking sections (well separated in different parts of the casino). There are all denominations of slot machines and a variety of table games.

I have not stayed at the hotel or played any table games, so I can't comment on them.

However, the variety of penny slots is fabulous. The lobby of the hotel is beautiful -- complete with waterfalls. The casino is presently undergoing some remodeling and it looks like it will be even prettier than before.

I noticed in some reviews posted last fall that some people thought the staff were rude -- I can't comment about those in the table games area -- but the staff I have dealt with in any way in the last five years have always been super courteous and friendly. We were there about a month ago and I was having trouble with the battery on my mobility scooter in the middle of the night. One of the security guards even offered to get a wheelchair and push me out to our RV so I could get my charger -- I didn't do it because it had started raining heavily at that time -- but just the thought that anyone would be that concerned and thoughtful was amazing.

We usually go for anywhere from three days to a week when we go (it's about an eight hour drive) and I have yet to do worse than break even. Sure I have watched some people around me pour big bucks into a penny machine and lose it all -- but if you don't get greedy, you can play for a long time without losing money. I have won some nice amounts on occasion as well.

I have eaten at the buffet and snack grill -- both were good and offered good value for the price. I have not eaten in their other restaurants so I can't comment.

This isn't what I hear about Las Vegas, but it definitely is a place I enjoy going three or four times a year. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun.
