We like the Belterra.
It helps that I've hit deuces on one of their machines each time I've been there recently.
The rooms are super. The buffet is a little expensive (around $15) and nothing really special.
Nicest of the Ohio River casinos.

I like Majestic Star for Northwest Indiana. I haven't been back to Resorts since it was Harrah's or to Horseshoe since it was Empress, though. I guess I haven't had a reason to try them again lately.

We're going down to Aurora next month. Staying at the Quality Inn at Lawrenceburg. Prices are too steep at the casino (got quoted $189 at the Argosy). Probably will do most of our playing there this time in spite of liking the Belterra.
My brother (a Cincinnatian) likes Argosy best. Says he thinks the machine treat him better and he knows the slot hosts treat him better.

i go to michigan city for the 'blue chip casino' on occasion and i swear to god that i must be the only one in the whole place that doesn't smoke. even after upgrading (supposedly) the air system, it is difficult to find a few cubic feet of untainted air.
i would like to see what some canadian casinos have done is ban cigars and pipes. i know, my choice is not to go. and i go very seldom. in contrast, although not a river boat, is little river casino in manistee, mi. very clean, friendly, well organized, able to get support help if needed. now if they could ever get the eatery up to par it would rate a 9!Comment

We usually try to go to the Blue Chip on weekdays when it is not real crowded. I, too, wish that there were more non-smoking areas in all casinos. Many have a very small area with very limited machines. If I ever find a machine that is doing well and letting me play for a while, someone will sit down and immediately light up and smoke me out.
Riverside, in Iowa, has quite a large non-smoking area that I enjoy.Comment

Just A Quick Note about French Lick Resort and Casino incase you plan to visit. Room rates are outrageous, Buffet is $20/person (high), Drinks at casino are xpensive $5.25 for a very small mixed drink and slots are tighter than a beavers you know what. Lots of 2 cent slots, too many!
