  • The Isle at Pompano Park in S. Florida

Went to the Isle in Pompano last week . Lots of machines. A bunch of VP units, not a whole bunch. BUT, i hit my first Royal Flush on a quarter machine. It was a nice nite and plan to return tonight. I also played a few other machines and all in all we had a great time.

Pretty place, but it aint no Vegas.

The Jacks or Better quarter games are 7/5 and the dollar games are 8/5.

Also, the slot club is a killer for video poker players.

You need to put in $20 to earn one point and, according to the club brochure, you need 500 points to get one non-alcoholic beverage at the bar.

That means you need to run $10,000 through any video poker machine in order to earn one free coke!

You need 2,000 points for a free t-shirt and that's equivalent to putting $40,000 through a video poker machine.

Seems very steep to me, but I think they are hampered by the Florida taxes and regullions.

Ouch! $10,000 through a 7/5 JoB machine? I think I'd rather spend the dollar to buy a soft drink.

My drinks at the Isle only cost me $1.00 each. Ask the gal for coffee or Coke and it's there in a minute or two. Give her a buck and say thanks.

Where is The Isle located? I live in FL and haven't heard of it before today.

Also, does anyone know if the Hard Rock in Hollywood has changed to Vegas style gambling yet? They used to be great for giving discounted rooms to players, but recently I found out you have to be a high roller to get a room for less than $400 a night. When did this change?

I personally have never paid for a room at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, but just looking at their Reservations section of the web site there are plenty of rooms mid-week listed at $189. Don't know where you came up with not being able to get a room for less than $400 unless you are a 'high roller'...even the standard weekend rates are generally less than that.

Having stayed there many times in comp rooms and suites I think these prices are right. The rooms are good but more importantly the casino does not want to price so low that it becomes a party scene on the hotel floors full of young drunks.

They do not have class III gaming yet and the payouts fall in the 'who knows' category but to me the Hard Rock does as good a job with comps as any casino out there. Their free play mailers are generous too. I've had plenty of big wins there and once you get used to the bingo aspect of the games they really play the same as anywhere else.

I thought I'd go to Gulfstream more once they opened but that place is boring. Want to check out the Isle at Pompano but so far in FL the Hard Rock is still the place to be.

              Re: The Isle

I found out that the reason I had trouble getting a room for less than $400 at the Hard Rock was because there was a boxing match that night. Other that this one time, I've always been happy staying there. Shouldn't have dissed the place without more info.
