First of all I have been visiting tristate for over 5 years now, way before the table games and poker. I am by no means a regular but go about 2 times every 3 months.I go now mainly to play poker. This past weekend(nov. 13-15 2010) I had 3 days off from work and decided to stay in the new hotel for the first time. I usually stay at the sleep inn down the road. The rate I recieved for sat. night wasn't bad, with my players card it was $129. Okay I finish gambling about 1:30 and go to the room. Get ready for bed and once I turn everthing off I'm laying there and keep hearing this noise. After a minute or two I realize that I am actually hearing one of my neighbors snoring! It's impossible to sleep with this noise so I have to revert to keeping the air conditioner on to block this out. So I am freezing now but atleast it blocks out the annoying noise. When I finally do fall asleep the fire alarm goes off at 3 am. It stays on for about 3 minutes and then goes off. Okay fall asleep again and the fire alarm goes off again! I call downstairs and ask them if we should leave the room and they state that they aren't for sure but I shouldn't be alarmed! Wow... Okay, fall asleep again and in the morning I am awaken by very loud repetitive crashing noises. My fiance runs over to the window to see what this was and it's the garbage truck getting the garbage. I am on the top floor of the hotel and it sounds like this guy just ran his truck into my room. So long story short, this hotel is the worst insulated hotel I believe I have ever stayed at, constant noises...Okay, so the next day I actually call down stairs and ask to add another night to the stay. I figured it would be the same $129 but to my suprise the desk attendant informs me that I am actually getting a lower rate to $99 for the second night. So okay she tells me that its added to the computer and everything is good. Late in the night on my second day I go downstairs to inquire about late check out. I am told that its free until 2 pm and anything after that I will have to pay half of my room rate. So I ask the lady can I check out around 9 or 10 pm and still pay half rate. She says of course, tells me its going to be $50 and starts putting this into the computer. So okay I think everything is ok and go to bed. Wake up the next morning with the bill under my door. I look at it and it has me at $129 for both of my nights and no charge for late checkout. I didn't think it was a big deal and calmly went down stairs to get things straightened out. I get to the front desk and the main hotel manager is there. I tell her the rate is wrong and she gives me a disgusted look like I shouldn't have said anything but obliges and changes the rate. She has to get help from the other young girl at the desk for subtracting the $30, they even have to break out a hand held calculator. Again I am very calm and have no reason to be rude and then I proceed to ask her about the late checkout. She looks at me dumbfounded and then I tell her what the lady told me the night before. Before I can even get it all out she actually starts yelling at me. Telling me that what I said is crazy and there is no way she could do that and I will have to pay the full amount. I mean she is screaming at me and I haven't even had a chance to respond yet. I kinda get the feeling that this was in the computer and she seen this and changed it herself. She even tried to increase my rate. So I do get smart with her and tell her to forget it and I will check out right then. This is at 12 pm, she costs the casino 8 or 9 hours of my action. She then proceeds to berate me and tell me this is how things go sometimes at "these" type of places. Like I have never been out of my house! I have stayed at 4 different hotels in Vegas and stayed a couple of times at the Hard Rock in Tampa. I just recently had my rooms comped a the Aria this summer and was treated like a king and now I am getting berated at some rinky dink casino in West Virginia. So as long as this manager still works at the hotel I will no longer be staying there. I will continue to stay at the Sleep Inn down the road where I have always been treated well and known by my first name...POKER ROOM ReviewI have loved playing poker here since the first night it opened. The softest 1/2 2/5 nl games that any nit can beat. Its fun and definately a welcome break from online play but this room does have its problems. The number one problem is the regulars. They get what they want, when they want it.I know you have to treat these people good but they do this very openly. I have seen rulings go in favor of the reg and then when the same issue comes up for an out of towner against a regular its still ruled in favor of the regular. I have heard on two occasions a dealer rant about someone "****ing" him off and he brags about he can turn things around whenever he wants(talking about fixing the deck I presume). And forget about any of the promotions unless you are a regular. They "randomly" give away tournament tickets sometimes and I have actually seen them set up the drawing cards when they didn't think anyone could see. Also a recent incident this weekend spotlighted their weakness in the security department. Had a drunken frat boy go crazy at about 2 am. They should have cut him off of the alcohol earlier but they let it go too long. This guy's screaming stops the action at all the tables and finally the floor man "asks" him nicely to leave. At this point it shouldn't have been asked. He eventually starts cursing at people and calling them outside. Two security guards come and are just standing there. It actually got to the point where this man should have been physically taken outside but it didn't look like the guards had the guts to make that call. One of them was a woman... The service for drinks is spotty but actually is better than some casinos.
