  • Gun Lake Casino: Closest Casino-Not Worth the Trip

Went to Gun Lake Casino 3 times the first week they were open. After feeding the slots approx $600 my biggest win was $36.00 which was quickly eaten up by subsequent machines. I've been to most of the casinos in the state and was not happy to see many machines I recognized. Other gamers seem to be wandering aimlessly looking for a friendly machine or one they recognized. Probably 90% of the machines have to be played at the maximum bet. I noticed several machines that were down. I would guess this to be caused by slot machines that were bought as seconds. A few machines did not play as advertised and some machines had symbols pop up that weren't on the menu. Some machines offering a denomination option when there was none. Went to Gun Lake in the morning and came away broke. Went to Soaring Eagle in the afternoon and had a ball, winning $150 on one slot and several other hits on several machines. In a weak moment I'll probably return to Gun Lake but not to soon.
