  • Twin River: Big Tax Burden

Twin Rivers is actually a slot parlor and they pay 67% of their revenue in tax to the state. Most casinos pay much closer to 10% in tax and can provide more bonus items for the players. I have rarely won more than a couple of hundred dollars at one time on slots and I live 10 minutes away and go there often. The upstairs casino is smoke free but does not have all the games that are on the first level. Machines are frequently dirty and empty cups and wrappers and cigarette ashes are everywhere. Never see anyone cleaning the machines. Hard to find a technical person if the machine has paper or other problems. No attendants in the bathrooms. The player's club staff are nice. We are used to playing at casinos in Oklahoma where they have plenty of staff to clean the machines and wipe off fingerprints. If you have a hot machine and have to leave for a minute the staff are right there to watch your machine for you. Much bigger payouts and more fun in Oklahoma, and they comp hotel rooms and meals and everything is very well done. I have not seen anyone win anything over $2,600. at Twin Rivers. Food courts selections are very good and have all the Rhode Island specialties that are not available anywhere else. Good for fun but not if you are going to spend any serious dollars.
